Hello, I am a blogger known as Thomas Pendrake. I write about a number of topics, one of which is the relationship between Science and religion. This can at times be controversial, since I try to stick to facts. As a scientist, I know that atheism is, to quote renowned agnostic Carl Sagan, "very stupid". As a Christian, I know that "Jewish myths and fables" are NOT the basis of our faith. Anyone who insists on the 17th century misinterpretation of Genesis is most definitely NOT a fundamentalist, Fundamentalist Christianity is "Christ in the flesh, crucified and resurrected".

I've studied the interrelationships of the science and theology for decades and still find it fascinating.
I'll be eagerly reading your explorations into the topic when you post them.

The trouble with the "Great Prevaricator" was this he was a prevaricator. And, gave weapons to the Ayatollah in a "deal with the Devil" to defeat President Carter. He then set the American energy program back by 40 years a d shipped millions of jobs overseas in a frontal assault on the working people of America.

Is it just me misunderstanding, or does this thread seem to not make much sense to others?

The op (original post) was both an introduction by a new member and an attack against anyone who believes the Genesis account. I responded by recognizing his very first post to be as such. In return he read part of my signature which is a quote from Reagan and decided to attack Reagan. I then responded with a quote from Reagan which is also in my signature.

Not anyone who believes any one of the various Genesis accounts, just the 17th century misinterpretation of them AND ANYONE WHO CONSIDERS THIS TO BE FUNDAMENTALISM!!!!!! Fundamental Christianity is "Christ Crucified.....". Try 1st Timothy1;3,4 and 1 Corinthians15:1-9

Let me emphasize that a person can believe in the popular interpretation of the genesis account(s) and understand that this is not "fundamental" Christianity. Only the belief that Jesus is the Son of God by birth and he was crucified for the redemption of our sins and resurrected on the third day. We now know, for instance, that there was a substantial rise in sea levels about 11,000 years ago due to the sudden release of vast amounts of methane, resulting in sudden global warming. Certainly there was a great deal of flooding, including sudden flooding of the black sea.

What do you mean "by birth"?

I assume that this is an attempt to down play the miraculous event God did on this earth by flooding it intentionally where by the entire world was covered in water to destroy the wicked and save Noah and his family.

It is funny how so called science can think it knows the global warming and rising seas as a result all those years ago. Of course there couldn't be any agenda to help create such a lie now could there be.

Also, never mind that other OT authors, Jesus, and NT authors took the first 11 books of the Bible literally hey let's just interpret scripture through the lens of man made science.

Again, I suggest that you read the passages I cited above in !st Timothy and 1st Corinthians. Global Warming is a well established fact, and I am amazed that you miss the possible Biblical interpretations that predict it. Pray, and perhaps God will remind you that we should be good stewards of His earth. The only agenda I have with regards to global warming is to prevent the death of billions of people which can result from it. If you believe in the 17th century interpretation of the flood stories, that is OK. Ju st dont mistake it for the Gospel. Place your faith in Jesus, not Noah.or Gilgamesh.

Global warming is a myth and pseudo science. It is nothing more that a far left extreme political agenda to gain control over peoples' lives. A literal understanding of the first 11 chapters of Genesis did not come about in the 17th century. OT prophets understood it that way, Jesus understood it that way as did NT writers.

I should point out that most of the people in the first 5 books of the Bible (Roman version, at least) lived hundreds and even thousands of years before those books were written.
Just how is the fact of global warming "pseudo science" or a myth ( a term you clearly do not understand)? How is it a "far left extreme political agenda", and how would it "gain control over people's lives"? This rhetoric of the radical right has been rejected by even much of the right wing. Even the Koch Brothers have admitted that it is true, they just argue that it is not so bad. Now they are wondering how to make a lot of bucks off it. Ask the people of coastal Alaska whose land is being washed away, or the people of many island nations whose countries are vanishing, Miami is having flooding problems, even Jacksonville is having problems.
I would suggest that you pray for guidance in this issue.

I don't have first hand knowledge of anywhere else, but Jacksonville is not having any issues. Guaranteed.
