Found this video that explains the troop movements during the Battle of Chickamauga. Interesting place to visit.

Excellent! Never a fan of Braxton Bragg. He later killed 5 of his best generals in an ill advised frontal assault on fortified positions at Franklin, TN. Largely because he was angry with some of them.

It is my understanding that he had a bad temper and was hated by his own men.

Very interesting. I have a brother-in-law who pastored a church in Chickamauga up until last year. I've driven through the battlefield dozens of times and toured the museum twice.

Another fascinating Civil War historical site a short drive from there is the Andersonville Confederate Prison. It also contains the National Prisoner of War monument.

Cool. Thomas never got the recognition he deserved (largely because of Grant), IMO. His victory at Nashville was one of the rare events in military history — the annihilation of the opposing army.

He was a Virginian by birth, which I think may have contributed to his lack of recognition.

It was partly his own fault: He destroyed his letters and refused to publish his own account of the war, which didn't help him when Grant's memoirs, for example, were published.

Still, there was some still-unexplained animosity between Grant and Thomas that prevented Thomas from being ranked popularly with the Union Big Three, though his veterans swore by him.

Agree. A memoir would probably have helped. I forgot that he destroyed his papers.
