Dr. Ruckman impressed many with his book knowledge, and when his audiences saw he was right, he began adding some goofy ideas of his own into the true knowledge he dispensed. His KJVO views were prominent in this respect, saying the KJV was "advanced revelation", and the KJV corrected its sources.

Then, there's his support of abortions, and of racism, with his own speeches on these subjects still found on You Tube.

And let's not forget his 10-foot tall antichrist alien with huge black lips who will land a mile-wide spaceship in St. Peter's Square and impart the marka the beast with a kiss on all who come to him...as described in his book, Mark Of The Beast.

I only hope he had TRULY come to Jesus in repentance, belief, and submission, as He is able to forgive his faults, same as He does ours.

I will hazard the advert is from the early 70s. By '77, Dr. Cedarholm wouldn't share the platform with the Ruckman of the OP.

I agree. And Dr. Cedarholm was a strong proponent of the KJV. He just had sense enough not to be be caught up in the KJVO drama.

I do have a question. Is the Peter Ruckman in the advert the same one as in the OP?
    • The one in the pic looks younger than a man born in 1921.
    • The Peter Ruckman of the OP I think by the 70s had insulted or ticked off all of the others on the broadside.

It's Pete. I knew him personally. When he was 70 he still looked 50. He got plenty of exercise and made it a point to eat right. The guy was in great shape for a man his age.

Then, I'll hazard this happened before the publication of the NASB. As I recall in short, it was Dr. Custer's promotion of the NASB as the latest and greatest that set the match to the firestorm.

That would have been 1971 or after, and the poster looks like late 60s or early 70s so you are probably right on the money.

Yeup, the poster had to be after 1968 as it put Dr. C in Wisconsin and before the firestorms of 1971.

To bad he wasn't on the forum, from the sounds of it he would have kept it interesting, well until he got banned after his first 10 posts.

I remember reading Mr. Ruckman's diatribes. He wouldn't have lasted past three.

I was trying to be generous by saying 10. Who knows you haven't banned ME yet, maybe he would have made it. :D

I believe he was but under a pseudonym which I forget.
We were having one of our KJVO knock-down, drag-out debates here at the BB and I produced several quotes from Dr Ruckman's books trying to defeat his doctrine of double inspiration.

During that time I received a phone call and the person on the other end ID'ed himself as Dr Ruckman and asked me "as a brother" to not publicly cite his books. I asked how do I know you are Dr Ruckman. He was so assertive that I said I would only indirectly cite him using the word "that" - e.g. Dr Ruckman says THAT the English of the KJV corrects the Greek in his book Blah-Blah on page Yada, Yada.

OH, The memories... I loved these kinds of meetings with a passion.

Two of my other favorites were Perry Rockwood of the People's Gospel Hour (Canadian) and Pastor Rolland C Starr of Cornerstone Baptist church (where I was assistant Pastor for a while).

I knew Pete. In person he was a completely different man. Soft spoken and even humble. But set him before a word processor, or stand him behind a pulpit and he became an entirely different man.
