A firearm is a deadly weapon whether you use it or not.
So is a hammer. So is a baseball bat. So is a 4000 pound car. Are you against them too?
My objection was to the fact that you seem to exult in owning such weapons.
So your objection is based on your own misinformed opinion of my attitude toward firearms? I think there is a word for that. Oh, yes. It is called "bigotry."
In a totally lawless society (think Libya or Somalia) one might need to have a weapon, but in a modern civilized society I see no need at all.
So the fact that you don't see the need means you have the right to criticize my perception of the need in my own country?
You have no Biblical justification for the great armoury you were boasting of in another thread.
Armory? Great armory? LOL! You have got to be kidding. For a Texan I am practically unarmed!

You are as likely to shoot one of your family accidentally as to protect them.
Am I? Really? And what body of data do you base that on? I have carried firearms for over 50 years and have not shot a family member yet. So what body of facts do you base, or is it bias, that uninformed opinion on?
And don't say it doesn't happen in the USA, because it does, regularly.
I don't recalling saying it never happened. But accidentally killing of a family member is very, very rare. The primary cause of violent death to a family member is domestic violence.
It is your attitude to firearms that should disqualify you from possessing them.
Really? And what attitude is that? A healthy respect for them? The mastering of their use? The qualification to teach others safe handling? The qualification to teach others proper shooting skills? The qualification to teach others the laws regarding defense of self and others and when it is lawful and unlawful to use a firearm in such a situation?
Bragging about your weapons on an open forum makes it more likely that they will be stolen.
I don't recall bragging about my firearms. And do you know so much about how, and where, they are stored that you are an expert on securing my firearms? What kind of safe do I have? How big is it? How much does it weigh? How is it secured to the floor? What building is it located in? What is the combination? Who else has access to it? How are the individual firearms locked into the racks inside the safe? And where are the keys to those individual locks? How are they secured?
And your having these weapons, and even being 'good' with them will not necessarily keep you or your family safe.
Better to have one and not need it than to need it and not have it.
I suppose you don't carry a fire extinguisher in your car because if it catches fire the fire department will come (eventually) and put it out.
What is better during a violent home invasion? A cop on the phone or a gun in your hand?
I am delighted that in Britain there is liberty for people to go about without the fear that some idiot is either accidentally or purposefully going to shoot them.
Are you delighted that the violent crime rate in Britain is 5 times as high as it is in the US? I wonder why that is? Could it be that your government has disarmed you so the criminals know you are an easy target?
King George III tried to disarm us troublesome colonials too. How did that work out for him?
I have a fear of silly people who are fixated by guns who should have grown out of it a long time ago.
So owning a firearm is, in your opinion, silly, but not taking measures to protect your family is not? And you know, somehow, that I am "fixated" by guns? How does that work? Crystal ball? And I should have "grown out of" my respect for, my qualification to own/carry, my qualification to teach others? So, to you, "growing out of" something is the retrograde movement of knowledge, understanding, and skills?
You have some very strange ideas. Do me a favor. Stay in Britain. We will both be happier.
