NIV Compared with NIrV

Since buying the latest NIrV in October I have been reading that particular translation most of the time.
Yes, it's written at a third grade level. The sentences are shorter and "difficult" words (from the NIV) are
substituted with easier alternatives. Nevertheless, it's a refreshing read.

I will cite some readings from the NIrV above and the NIV below in pairings. I will not cite entire verses, just
snippets.

Galatians
3:19 : a go-between
a mediator

5:10 : The one who has gotten you all mixed up will have to pay the price
The one who has is throwing you into confusion. whoever they may be, will have to pay the penalty.

5:12 : I wish they would cut off everything that marks them as men!
I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

1 Corinthians
6:7 : you've lost the battle already
you have been completely defeated already

7:31 : all wrapped up in them
engrossed in them

2 Corinthians 2:14 : Christ's victory parade
Christ's triumphal procession

Comment : It's interesting that for the above in the NIrV there is no such equivalent phrase in the NIV.
As a matter of fact the NIrV shies away from using the word "covenant" in other verses. But here is an exception.

Okay, the verses may have been too long to memorize on occasion. The sentences are shorter,
but they are more numerous than both the NIV and NLT.

But for a child of eight the NLT may prove to be a bit unwieldy. I am looking at 2 Cor. 1:8 :
NLT : We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through
in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and
we thought we would never live through it.

NIrV : Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the hard times we had in Asia Minor. We were having a lot of trouble. It was far more than we could stand. We even thought we were going to die.

The word amounts are the same. But there is far more ease for a young child to memorize that then the NLT rendering. But this angle makes for an interesting topic for the future: NIrV Vs. NLT For Preteens.
Hmm...preteens or pre-tens (my neologism) or predouble digit ages (before 10 year olds.
