Trump is set to begin his presidency with a historically low approval rating

President-elect Donald Trump's approval rating is the lowest for any presidential transition Gallup has measured, the polling firm said on Friday.

Trump's approval rating came in at 44%, with 51% of respondents disapproving of the president-elect, the Gallup poll conducted two weeks before Inauguration Day found.

Those numbers represented a dip from his approval rating in mid-December when 48% of respondents approved of Trump while another 48% disapproved.

The approval ratings are significantly lower than those of the three other incoming presidents measured by Gallup: Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.

At this stage of the transition, Obama had a soaring 83% approval rating, with just 12% of respondents disapproving. Bush was favored by 61% of respondents, while 25% were not in favor of him, and Clinton saw a 68%-to-18% split.

Could we have already seen the high-water mark of his popularity?

    A coupe have 5 kids - Quints - age 10

Mom & Dad have established 830 pm as bedtime. 4 of the 5 kids do not like the early bedtime.
Thus the parents only have a 20% approval rating.

Sometimes, what we dont like - may just be good for us.

There's a huge difference between kids hating a bedtime and the alleged leader of the free world.

Yep. Trivializing comparison. It is not bedtime, and Donald Trump is not America's papa.

How does a president go about getting a valid approval rating before they have the job?

What this tells me is that the left thoroughly hates any and all republicans and loves any democrat they can get elected.

Lower approval than John Quincy Adams, who won through congressional election after receiving less than a quarter of the popular vote (113K) and coming in 3rd in electoral votes?

Lower approval than Lincoln, who's election set of secession?

Not really. Did Obama get 83% of the vote? Did Clinton get 68%

At least the Republican numbers are reasonably close.

So just how accurate are these polls? I'd say not very.

Did they just poll Democrats? And think that what counts is how we view in 4 years into it!

It would have been nice to see how Gallup was calling the 2016 election, but it looks like they sat this last one out.

Liberals like liberals that are elected and Republicans like Republicans that get elected. I would have never guessed.

We know those polls are so accurate right? I'm sure Obama truly has sky high approval rating now lol. Trump's record low. All of those polls leading up to the election were right, Iran who would ever question a poll?

I understand analogies perfectly well, however the original was nonsensical. Comparing the president of the US to kids and bedtime is utterly ridiculous. Find something better.

Then you got it wrong - I was comparing Trump to the parents - who must make decisions that the children ( citizens ) may not like - but is best for the country.

I have yet to see where that may even be a possibility...however your analogy is still a non-sequitur given what the original topic was.
