I read that link to the gender neutral of the CSB, and they seem to be handling it in a different and better fashion than the Niv 2011 did...

 

except that they seemed to be more into making it inclusive and not neutral....

What in the world are you talking about? The CSB and NIV use inclusive language.

 

The link was not about the CSB being gender neutral.

 

The CSB is as close to the NIV in that respect than any other version --probably more than the NET even. The NLT and NRSV use more inclusive language.

 

The CSB does not change it as often though, in as many places as Niv, does it?

So far the CSB has a net 22 more inclusive readings than the NIV in all the aforementioned examples.

 

Changes in words -- such as men to people, brothers to brothers & sisters -- are certainly a source of disagreement and dissension. While one may not agree with these choices, they are not the same as the gender-neutrality that one finds, for example, in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 of the Common English Bible:

Here in the CEB, any reference that would indicate gender is washed out. In contrast CSB, NIV, et al. maintain words like "he," "his wife" and so on. The passages that are or could be contextually masculine are the more important passages to consider when looking at gender-inclusivity (as opposed to passages where we understand men means mankind, that is, all people generally regardless of gender).

 

What about the passages though where God intended to have it mean men, and not generic for people, male female etc?

What passages are you referencing in particular? Again, you have to be specific, which is one of your greatest weaknesses. You lob hundreds of charges without doing any homework. Shame on you.

Besides, I wanted you to tell me what passages in the CSB use inclusive language that has gone over the line in your mind. I have asked you the same question now for more than a dozen times. You have ignored my request as you usually do when I ask for specifics.

 

Thanks, but this thread is about the CSB. Y1 cannot stay focused on the subject of a thread. I ask him specific questions and he runs to the hills, deflects and does everything he can to squirm away from answering specific questions honestly.
