A lot of publicity has been made about NFL players who are taking a knee during the playing of the SSB.

BUT - if you are at home in your living room - do you stand for the SSB?

If you have kids, do you encourage them to do do?

I only stand when I am present in person. I don't stand when watching or listening to a broadcast.

I am not all that patriotic. I see it as the blood stained banner that flew over the Northern invasion of the Confederacy. I see it as the blood stained banner that flew over the Indian wars and massacres. I see it as the blood stained banner that flies over millions of abortions. I see it as the blood stained banner that flies over a court that tells me I have to compromise my religious beliefs to accommodate perversion. So, no. I don't stand in my living room.

You mean the Northern Invasion of the Confederacy that eventually freed our fellow humans from the bondage of slavery? As for killing Indians, never forget that they killed and massacred their fellow tribesmen all over the place and under the banner of the Stars and Stripes that was ended too. Regarding abortion, many people use the freedoms represented by that flag to fight that awful scourge. Now for your religious beliefs, how have they been compromised? Has anyone from the government stopped you from attending services and do you still hold to the same doctrines of your faith tradition? Your religious freedoms are still intact and where they are threatened organizations that support them are able to fight back, once again under that same flag you seem to disdain I might add.

And no, I do not stand at home when the National Anthem is played on TV.

The govt has forced lbgq accommodation on us. The courts have forced abortion on us. The North did not invade the South to free slaves. They invaded to protect northern industry. Indian tribal wars do not justify mass genocide and effectively placing the tribes in slavery.

No earthly flag and the nation it represents measures up to the requirements of scripture.

However my earthly allegiance is to my country of birth (and choice) - America.

Above that the Great Commission shows us to consider that God:

    Acts 17:26 ...hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

    We are one family

I think many times we lose sight of the big picture. I respect and thank EVERY Vietnam veteran for their service. However, that war was nothing but a waste of life. Awaste of American life; A waste of Vietnamese life. A war built and fought on false pretenses and outright lies. Anyone who doubts that should listen to the presidential tapes. Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, and Ford all told the American people lie after lie after lie after lie. They never spoke the truth about that war. All that nation wanted was to be free of colonialism. We made the war about Communism.

We were always taught to stand to attention.

Not been anywhere where the play the national anthem. But in the dim and distant past when I used to go to the cinema, people used to rush out quickly to avoid the national anthem. It is a wonder nobody was crushed to death.

Indoors, I cry in place. Outdoors, I stand and cry with hand over heart. Some one gave me a Minuteman mentality--the Paul Revere version not the modern one.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

I don't stand in my living room but I do stand if the flag is being presented and the anthem played... I served during Vietnam during 1965 and 1966 and many times I was in the color guard after and was on flag detail at MCRD in San Diego... The flag to me stands for all those who gave and were to give the ultimate sacrifice, as does the national anthem... You want to kneel, fine you have the freedom to, but know this you wouldn't have that freedom in another country... And I would pass this message on to those who kneel... While you are kneeling, lower your head to the ground and kiss it... You don't see the blood but it is there, your kneeling in it... And you thought this country and all its freedoms were just given to us?... Brother Glen... USMC... 4th Marine Division, 3rd Battalion, Charlie Company 4th Tanks... Da Nang, Phu Bai, and Chu lai... OOOOOORAH!

Not building houses right now--mostly casinos--toxic mortgages are not so popular, but ARMs, not Spencer rifles, are still available. Guns and whiskey are not as profitable. Exploitation of the masses is still a worldwide epidemic.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

I have spent a lot if time in Casinos. Not once did anyone make me go in. Common sense tells me they do not pay for those huge buildings by sending you home with more money than you came with. There is only one game in which you can beat the house, if you do they will ban you. There are games in which you can beat the other players, but never the house.

I know, you see the glass as half empty, I see it as half full. As for the North invading to protect northern industries, that is ridiculous. The south had no industries to speak of except cotton, their biggest cash crop. All the mills were in the north for heaves sake. The bottom line is the slavery question had been going on for some time and the Southern representatives in Congress sought to keep it going everywhere, including in any new territory that sought entry into the Union.. When the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, the South lost all moral authority as she continued fighting and the European states would not support them. It was slavery, that "peculiar" way of life that the south needed to keep going for their labor intensive, only industry to speak of, agriculture.
