Do you believe that you hear from God? If so, how do you hear?

Also, do you believe it is possible for the departed to communicate with us? I don't mean like in a spiritist/seance way, but because they are part of the "communion of saints"?

I believe that God communicates to us through His Word. We have to be careful here because I don't believe this is something extra-biblical (like a special revelation telling us what He meant or implied in Scripture), but instead the work of the Spirit in applying God's Word to our lives.

For example, I have been in conversations with people where God has brought to mind passages dealing with the situation. The Spirit also opens up Scripture to us. When we read we should not think that Scripture is insufficient because there is a depth there that supplies all we need.

I believe that God speaks through His word, and I am very anti-Pentecostal; however, I do leave room for God's "voice" in directing His sheep on matters unrelated to scripture. The apostle Paul seemed to suggest that he was lead here or there by some communication other than scripture.

"Do you believe that you hear from God? If so, how do you hear?"

The next time you hear a child or infant cry that is Christ screaming for your aid. Every petition for kindness, love, mercy and compassion is the DIRECT word of God.

When your best friend tells you "hello" it is more fake and questionable then when your heart tells you to do the right thing.

"Also, do you believe it is possible for the departed to communicate with us? I don't mean like in a spiritist/seance way, but because they are part of the "communion of saints"?"

Jesus Christ did it when he prayed and We are called to imitate Jesus Christ who is our exemplar who's footsteps we follow.

    Luke 9

28Some eight days after these sayings, He took along Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29And while He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming. 30And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah, 31who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men standing with Him. 33And as these were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles: one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not realizing what he was saying. 34While he was saying this, a cloud formed and began to overshadow them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!” 36And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent, and reported to no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.

Yes. The Holy Spirit who is working for God lets us know the proper thing to do after we have asked for guidance. How is this manifested? It is an inner sense that tells us the right way to go.

No. There is only one route of communication between us down here and the saints in heaven - us to them via prayer. Any thing else is from the evil one.

So you have never prayed to God for guidance and then heard an inner voice telling you that what has been placed before you (by God of course) would be the right way to go?

Does one have to have the Scriptures in front of us to hear God? I don't think so. For example, many years ago I was asked to do the eulogy for my grandfather. I prayed to God to help me out and after a few hours the words suddenly started popping into my head. I believe that without a doubt those were put into my head via the Holy Spirit and I never opened the bible at all.

Not in the sense that you mean, no. And, even if I did, I would still have to check it against scripture.

I hear from God every time open my Bible and read it, and there is NO communication from those who passed on and us!

I have had the Holy spirit prompt/convict me to for example witness to someone, but not any voice, more like heavy impression.

Agreed. Once we open the door to any other type of "communication" we create something that is wholly subjective to the individual.

In Hebrews 1:1,2 we read, "God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son,". We have been living in the eschaton (last days) since Christ's ascension. His return is imminent. In these last days, God speaks to us (as you stated) through His word. It is not a private communication. God's word speaks an eternal truth that applies to each of us. God has also given us the Church as a means of grace in our lives in order to help strengthen us on our journey.

In addition, all of what passes as modern day revelations and messages from God clash with the scripture, and God does not contradict Himself!

Communion with the dead, prayers to the dead etc - all forbidden in the Bible.
Eating of the true of knowledge of Good and evil -- forbidden by the Word of God.

Going to that forbidden place results in the same-- a meeting with the devil
