Give me a break. You know being a false witness is not a good thing, correct?

    "the Trojan Horse of Calvinism.”
    SWBTS chapel 2016.

How should a Calvinist take thise words? They walked out on him for a reason. They felt attacked and misrepresented. Of course he said much more that the snip above. The tone of the message was such it prompted Patterson to defend Patrick by saying

"I know there are a fair number of you who think you are a Calvinist, but understand there is a denomination which represents that view,” “It’s called Presbyterian....if I held that position I would become a Presbyterian. I would not remain a Baptist,"

I can't pull articles for ya since connect 316 removed them all.

Buy some nuggets from SBC Voices which have not been removed yet.

Multiple times Rick compares Calvinsts to terrorists.

"Just like a terrorist network contains infiltrating cells within a variety of nations while preserving their primary allegiance for the terrorist organization itself, Acts 29 churches appear to enjoy carte blanche in forming their own “denomination without walls"

"but I have come to accept the axiom that the difference between a Calvinist and a Terrorist is that you can negotiate with a Terrorist."

So let me get this straight. You believe those words justifies this treatment of him? Further you believe that those words justify falsely accusing him of having a ministry dedicated to attacking them? An entire ministry dedicated for that purpose?

Setting aside anyone's Calvinist or Arminian preferences, how can the head of a Baptist Seminary make a statement so contradicted by Baptist History? There have always been Baptists on both sides of that divide and the 'majority' has swung several times.

Baptists have always had congregational governance and of the the neo cals have been pushing for elder lead or elder ruled in churches. That is contrary to Baptist distinctives. There are some other similar issues

I am a little slow on all of this Church Politics stuff. Could you clarify exactly what "this treatment" refers to?

He posted something satirical, but inappropriate.
    He removed the post.
    People spread the post.
Rick chose to resign from something because of the post.

    Where is he being mistreated?

Uh first continually reposting it after he took it down was just evil. Second, they were calling for him to be removed from his church and kicked out of the convention. (pretty silly calls if you ask me) They were out for blood and were not going to stop till he was destroyed. Typical MO for cals.

Is this a SBC distinctive or is congregational governance more universal? I know of one SBC that is virtually 'pastor led' with the with the congregation being a 'rubber stamp' formality and I know of a Pastor from Chicago whose Church was padlocked by the Deacons who ordered him off the property at gunpoint. The largest 'First Baptist' Church in this area probably has congregational governance, but it does not seem universal in my limited experience.

I think he should have kept his position. But if you wrestle in the mud, you get dirty. And certainly his recent Facebook post went after them as well. I can't answer for the treatment the so-called "Calvies" you are referring too. Pulpit and Pen perhaps? They used the post of the star-telegram reporter. His ministries postion is to counter Calvinism. I haven't seen it do anything else. Then again, I would just follow his posts. Don't know what anybody else did.

So you find two extreme cases of misuse and try to paint everyone that way?

Most Baptist churches that I have seen are more "deacon board" lead than congressional. How is that any better? Seems to be sub biblical....but it is a Baptist distinctive.

I thought he had many friends at SBC voices, since he was a contributor. Don't have facebook....so maybe that is how I have missed it. I didn't see anything until this thread

That ministry is not dedicated to what you say it is.
