No, He was simply pointing out their hypocrisy and how they caved to pressure without looking for real evidence. Vile? No.
    Crude? Yes. Hilarious actually.

    That who caved???

That wasn't his intent regardless. He admitted his intent.

"I sinned by posting a comment about the worst thing I could think of that a person could do, and then sarcastically imagined five of the people I felt were responsible for the “hit job” doing that thing"

    This was about retaliation.

But what was the point? To show the hypocrosy of them believing accusations without evidence.

In point of fact, elder led churches are congregational churches. And, historically, Baptist churches did have Elders; the "Deacon" thing (and they function essentially as elders in most Baptist churches) is a relatively new thing.

THAT was what he posted? Even in jest, that was unwarranted. I never knew what he posted, just read his apology. :Cautious

What kind of evidence do you need? When SEBTS says they have no info which goes against Lively's claim and SWBTS releases a statment that says "

We confirmed this week through a student record, made available to me with permission, that an allegation of rape was indeed made by a female student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2003. This information contradicts a statement previously provided by Dr. Patterson in response to a direct question by a Board member regarding the incident referenced in our May 30 statement. The 2003 rape allegation was never reported to local law enforcement."

I saw the post made by Patrick. I take back EVERYTHING I said. It needed to be exposed. Joke or not, that was a horrible hit job by Patrick.

Patterson denies it was reported to him as rape. He seems to have evidence more compelling than the sketchy, vague, garbage brought against him.

Yes, but SWBTS claims that the university student record shows it was reported as rape. There is no good reason for them to make it up.

Notice I said "to him." As I understand Patterson, it might have been reported to the assistant Dean as rape, but that information never came to him. Patterson seems to hold the most credible evidence.

If you were talking about the improperly leaked student emails, that proves nothing. It sounds like--could possibly be-- the victim internalizing things said and blaming her self. Sharayah Colter's blog and release of "clips" of emails is weak at best. The emails leak actually backs up Lively's story of victim blaming. I am going to take the word of 2 universities over this woman(Colter) who has proven to be willing to break school policy and violate student trust.

Not to mention Patterson's lawyer has been called out already about misleading the public about facts. In regardless to the arbitration for docs. His lawyer said SEBTShas not accepted arbitration to determine who owns the "Lively docs". SEBTS has received no such request

Mr.Patricks failed attempt to be funny,or sarcastic shows the results of making an issue rise to a place it should never get to.He failed to think good and spiritual thoughts....the results were unacceptable.
The warning here is to obey the teaching of the grace and duty of being spiritually minded

Yes, it was reported. But NOT to Dr. Patterson. The woman in question even stated she did not report it to Dr. Patterson. Read the letter she wrote to him.

That doesn't mean he did not know about it. Why did he put her on probation without reading the student record? The record shows it was reported as rape. Lively seems to operating under the impression that Dr. Patterson is fully aware of the situation and accepted her "part" she played in the incident. SWBTS is strongly implied Patterson is lying about how he handled the situation. University records do not support Patterson's statement to a direct question asked by the board. Of course we don't know what the contradiction is. Perhaps it is the color of the tie he wore that day or something else that has nothing to do with the knowledge of rape.

I do find it really hard to be SWBTS would fire him if nothing is there. Because now they have brought embarrassment to fine institutions, and the SBC in general. I find it hard to believe they would do this unless it warranted the termination. Patterson is a huge name! He is partly responsible for our BFM. He did a lot to sure up the SBC to a biblical foundation. You don't fire someone like Patterson unless you have a compelling reason too. The #MeToo movement is not a compelling reason. Don't see them caving to that group.

[I have seen the correspondence leaked by Colter. Not sure if you are speaking of a different letter or not. ]
