What is Drunkeness?

So most would hold that being drunk is sinful but what entails being Drunks? Is being a little tipsy drunkenness? Is having one pint drunkenness as it will have an effect on your decision making and this amount can be enough to be charged with drunk driving (DUI) so legally you would be drunk but is this what the bible is talking about?

and you would see this as sinful?

where would you divide acceptable drinking and going too far?

Getting drunk (i.e. buzzed, tipsy, falling down drunk) its all the same. We are told to be sober minded. tipsy is not sober minded.

it's been shown that even small amounts of alcohol has effect on decision making, hence alcohol limit for driving is extremely low. so is no drinking allowed?

What is not allowed is to be anything other than sober minded. I didn't say it God did.

drunk = controlled by drink

It is contrasted with being controlled by the Spirit

The amount of alcohol in wine in that time period (usually cut 50/50 with water) was very low compared with alcoholic drinks today. To get "drunk" you had to consume very large amounts of wine, which reflected negatively upon you in social circles. A "winebibber" not only drank more than socially acceptable but might even drink it uncut with water.

There were clear restrictions upon operating camels by winebibbers, however.

Any time when one no longer has full control over their senses and themselves!

God, in His wisdom, chose not to provide us with a quantifiable measurement nor an explicit description of where the threshold of "drunkenness" lies. My personal choice is abstinence, which pretty much guarantees that I won't get drunk on alcohol. Others would make a different choice. Perhaps folks here have heard the story of a man who wanted to hire a driver for his horse-drawn wagon. As a test of the candidates' abilities, he asked each to drive the wagon as close to the edge of a nearby cliff as each dared. Guess which one got hired.

Yes, having a pint of moonshine constitutes drunkenness.
