The Other Gospel Of Tongues

The debate between cessation and the continual of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is lacking a proper recognition that those who usually defend the continual gifts of the Holy Spirit are defending the other phenomenon known as the "second blessing" which has occurred later on in life of a believer as happening apart from salvation.

This "second blessing" is usually marked by the experience of feeling what they believe is the Holy Spirit coming over the believer apart from salvation, bringing tongues without interpretation, and thus assumed by many, is for private use. This in turn, seduces other believers in seeking after this "second blessing", believing that they are missing something out of their life with Christ. Some have received this "second blessing" by "opening" themselves up to receiving the Holy Spirit by that sign of tongues which comes with no interpretation.

It is an evil tree that produces an evil fruit, believers, because it doesn't stop there. They can experience other phenomenon of receiving the Holy Spirit after other signs of confusion like "slain in the spirit" and "holy laughter". Some of those who claim to preach only the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of tongues will stand out and say that "slain in the spirit" and "holy laughter" is not of the Lord, but I believe a non-Baptist member here spoke of an event when such a person tried to stop it from happening and got slain in the spirit only because he was of that same evil tree that believes one can receive the Holy Spirit apart from salvation.

That other calling to receive the Holy Spirit "again" is called another gospel, believers. To receive the Holy Spirit apart from salvation is to deny Him in us as promised at our salvation by faith in Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:1Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

The test of the spirits is by knowing the Holy Spirit is in you since you had first believed at the calling of the gospel so that if you should experience a spirit coming over you later on in life as a believer by a spectacular outward sensation thus bringing a sign, you will know that is NOT the Holy Spirit.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

1 John 4:1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world...… 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

Do note that those who promote this second blessing or that other baptism with the Holy Spirit with the sign of tongues are forgetting that tongues were never to serve as a sign towards the believers in seeking after.

1 Corinthians 14:20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. 21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. 22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

What are we to do with those that refuse to repent of that vain tongue and that other gospel of tongues?

2 Thessalonians 3:1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;.....14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

So if and when I speak against any believer on the subject of tongues, if that tongue is linked by that apostate calling, it is only because that believer is actually preaching another gospel; a gospel of tongues.

It does not matter if they claim interpretation comes with that tongue. A church had believed they had the real God's gift of tongues and had hired a linguist to record and translate the many tongues in that church, but only found out that it was just gibberish nonsense. That means they were wither "faking interpretation" to fit in as some fake tongues to fit in ( not discounting those who actually speak the devil's tongue which is the same gibberish nonsense ) or they were "guessing" at what that tongue was saying as Joyce Meyers reported on how she interpret tongues by getting the "feel" of what the tongue is saying. Joyce Meyers even used tongues as a sign for when she had first received it as God calling her into the ministry, and yet tongues are not to serve as a sign towards believers for anything. 1 Corinthians 14:22 again.

So that is how modern tongue speakers today are believing they have that God's gift of tongues, but if it is linked with that apostasy of receiving the Holy Spirit apart from salvation; it is NOT God's gift of tongues.

Isaiah 8:19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

1 Timothy 4:1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

One thing some modern tongue speakers will fail to mention is how some will fall backwards in getting that tongue too when they receive that "other baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of tongues".

Proverbs 25:26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring. 27 It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory. 28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

1 Corinthians 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

If you are referring to Ephesians 5:18, that is not the commandment to be infilled with the Holy Spirit, but the command to not get drunk with wine wherein there is excess, but to remain filled with the Spirit as in remain sober and in self control. There are other verses about the call to be sober and it does not involved an instruction by seeking to be filled supernaturally by the Holy Spirit.

One is not seeking to be filled with the Spirit to remain sober and in self control, but to abstain from drunkenness which is a work of the flesh that can result in temporary loss of self control which is what temperance is as a fruit of the Spirit.

We are always filled with the Spirit because we are in this fallen sinful flesh still temporarily which is why we will be held accountable to what we sow towards; the works of the flesh or the fruits of the Spirit. Being always Spirit-filled is a testimony from the Holy Spirit that we are saved;

1 Corinthians 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

So does one need to infill themselves with the Holy Spirit in order to repent? No. All they are called to do is depart from iniquity, that includes calling former believers to depart from iniquity too.

2 Timothy 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

That is how one purges themselves of iniquity by looking to Jesus Christ for help to depart from iniquity & sin.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

So no need for another infilling of the Holy Spirit. All any believer needs to depart from iniquity is go before that throne of grace and ask Jesus Christ for help.

So does one need to infill themselves with the Holy Spirit in order to repent? No. All they are called to do is depart from iniquity, that includes calling former believers to depart from iniquity too.

And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

That is how one purges themselves of iniquity by looking to Jesus Christ for help to depart from iniquity & sin.

So no need for another infilling of the Holy Spirit. All any believer needs to depart from iniquity is go before that throne of grace and ask Jesus Christ for help.

Do you seek a supernatural infilling of the Holy Spirit after every time you sin? I don't think so. Asking Jesus for forgiveness is all you need to do to return to abiding in Him and asking Him for help not to do that sin again is living by faith in Him to do that.

There is no verse that testify to that effect, brother. What you are espousing is still after the rudiment of the mindset of Pentecostal/Charismatics/Catholics in believing the lie that they can receive the Holy Spirit supernaturally apart from salvation.

He is in you or He is not. There is no more "infilling of the Holy Spirit".

There is sowing to the fruits of the Spirit and avoiding sowing to the works of the flesh, leaning on Jesus Christ for help, but you are always Spirit-filled as a testimony that you are saved. Read Matthew 9:17

Jesus and the Apostles made it pretty clear that the sure sign of being filled and led by the Holy Spirit is not how many tongues we speak, or how many gifts, but to have fruit, and especially love!
