A question about the makeup of Baptist Board.

I'm new here and things are so hectic right now that I've yet to really be able to interact much on or with the board or really move around the board much. I hope to be able to do so soon as I really do appreciate conversations with the wider Baptist community. I'm just curious if any generalizations can be drawn about the general makeup of the board. I realize there are a lot of folks here and there are Christians and non-Christians and folks from every denomination, but is there a particular denomination or group that tends to makeup the overall tenor and tone of the board, the milieu of the board? That make sense? I have quite literally no agenda in asking. I'm just curious. Is it kind of a, "Everybody's welcome but most folks here tend to be ________" thing? (I realize, of course, that "Baptist" could probably go there but is it more specific than that?) Or not really?

Wyman, I'd guess the primary makeup of the Baptists on the Baptist Board is Southern and Independent, and generally tending toward conservative, but that's just a guess based on my interactions here. I may be all wet.

Probably because there is a grouping with the title "Free Will Baptists" that many you would place that category don't want to be associated with.

I'll clarify; free willers (in the poll) resisted the tag 'synergist'.

."Synergism: the doctrine that the human will cooperates with the Holy Ghost in the work of regeneration.

Monergism: the doctrine that the Holy Ghost acts independently of the human will in the work of regeneration."

Sovereign Grace types (in the poll) readily accepted the label 'monergist'.

There is one group that tends to be "I am 100% right - and you are 100% wrong":

Also a great division is the King James "discussion"
Three basic groups
1) KJV is the only valid version - all others are perversions
2) I only use the KJV - but if you use other versions - you will probably get to Heaven
3) I use Modern versions (anything past 1800 AD) will use the KJV but often too hard to comprehend

Come to think of it - I dont know of anyone who is Anti-KJV-

Still trying to figure out which group Spanish (only) speakers would be in

Yea, but they're legal. :D

I would think it's more like 50/50. A few years back I did a poll for the Dispies. The system is definitely fluid.

Agree.

Majority Orthodox , but a few not so much

I'm wondering how subjective 'orthodox' is here.

Not running him down - @kyredneck taught me about salting deer meat and putting it on a smoker....and about greasy beans. And as long as you and I wear our poodle "kilts" we don't have room to talk. :Whistling

It's a Baptist movement that has adopted Pentecostal elements.

Its someone who claims the Full Gospel in a Baptist Church, who practices speaking in tongues, prophecy, healings etc!
