I'm an English evangelical, and I'm increasingly concerned about the US evangelicals giving evangelicalism a bad name. Mainly because of their misuse of prophecy in recognition of the corrupt state of Israel, seeing world events as signs of the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ, ignoring environmental concerns, Dispensationalism and a false Gospel that accepts decisions rather than repentance and new life and a living faith.
Question 1: Do you believe that the book of Revelation is a fantasy?
Revelation 18:4-8
Then I heard another voice from heaven saying,
“Come out of her, my people,
lest you take part in her sins,
lest you share in her plagues;
for her sins are heaped high as heaven,
and God has remembered her iniquities.
Pay her back as she herself has paid back others,
and repay her double for her deeds;
mix a double portion for her in the cup she mixed.
As she glorified herself and lived in luxury,
so give her a like measure of torment and mourning,
since in her heart she says,
‘I sit as a queen,
I am no widow,
and mourning I shall never see.’
For this reason her plagues will come in a single day,
death and mourning and famine,
and she will be burned up with fire;
for mighty is the Lord God who has judged her.”
I believe Revelation was written before the AD 70 destruction, and primarily concerns that event. It has application down the ages, but not specific prophecies.
In his Olivet prophecy, Jesus warned believers of the signs at which they should flee the city.
Question 2: Are the following Scriptures True or False?
Exodus 23:1-2
You shall not bear a false report; do not join your hand with a wicked man to be a malicious witness. You shall not follow the masses in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after a multitude in order to pervert justice.
Leviticus 19:17
Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt.
Such Scriptures continue to apply, and are a major reason for questioning the policies of our nations.
Please enlighten me yet again. Question 3: Where is your rebuttal to the following testimonies?
I haven't watched them, but I have read many such. Our nations are concerned with the use of power and exploitation of the resources, particularly oil.
Socialism is seen as the great enemy, whereas I am strongly in favour of a true socialism that works for the people. NOT to be confused with Russian communism that dominates the people.
I support Jeremy Corbyn, the British Labour leader and consider the attacks on him are because of corrupt interests and fear of the loss of privilege if he gains power.
