John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

    5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

In my discerning and rightly dividing the word of truth in these scriptures we have, if you will two resurrection... In fact in you didn't have part in the first you will not be a part of the second... You will have no effect on the one because you didn't have any effect on the other... The first I would like to draw your attention to is the new birth.

As I heard one writer comment the child of God is stillborn... He has no spiritual life in him until he hears the voice of the Son Of God, just as John did who was born again in his mothers womb... What part did a baby in the womb of Elizabeth have in the new birth... NONE!.. John was born again because God made an effectual call to a babe in the womb and the effect of that call was new birth... Nicodemas didn't come to Jesus to be born again, he already was, but he was confused on the issue until Jesus explained it... If he didn't belong to God why did he come?... Why do any of us come?... Do we join a church to be born again or join a church because we are?... Now you are ready for the masters service... Now you are ready to serve your God and his Son Jesus Christ in a more perfect way, in serving your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and others.

Those who had a part in the first hour will surely have a part in the second... The second resurrection is because of what Christ did for you and I who didn't deserve it... IT's ALL OF HIS AMAZING GRACE, which none of us had a hand in, no matter what others say... When we are resurrected from the dead, Gods not going to be passing out any awards, giving any glittering crowns, for what any of us did... WE SHALL GIVE ALL GLORY TO GOD!... I never worry that Gods children are not going to make it to Heaven... CHRIST ALONE!... SAVED HIS OWN!... The Holy Spirit is now up and about the God heads business... Because brethren?... THE HOUR IS COMING, AND NOW IS!!!... Brother Glen:)

    I like it, Glen.
Something I'd like to add that has occurred to me, from my own reading:

" For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth [them]; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. " ( John 5:21 )
Something selective here, and it relates to Matthew 11:27.
Christ alone saves His own. :)

    Another point:

" For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth [them]; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will." ( John 5:25 )
I see Scripture referencing several passages here, including John 6:44 in "drawing", Acts of the Apostles 16:14 with Him opening Lydia's heart, and several others.

To me, this gives us the context of who is being raised from the "dead" in John 5:25...Christ's sheep, those that "hear" His voice ( John 10:27 ).
They were dead in trespasses and sins ( Ephesians 2:1-22 ), and they've heard the word of God ( Romans 10:17 ), been given the gift of faith ( Ephesians 2:8 ), "heard" the voice of their Saviour and been given eternal life ( John 17:2-3 ).

Then in John 5:28-29, I see another "resurrection", one that is bodily, not spiritual.
This first resurrection, to the believer's glorified body :) ( Matthew 24:29-31, Romans 8:30, 2 Corinthians 5:1-4 ) while the second is to the unbeliever's eternal death ( Revelation 20:6 ).:(
The believer in Christ experiences one spiritual resurrection and one physical resurrection...while the unbeliever experiences only one physical resurrection on Judgment Day ( Revelation 20:11-15 ).

We can rejoice, as believers, because we have no part in this second part of the two-stage, bodily resurrection of people...the second death. :Notworthy
    I agree.:Cool
    Yep.:Thumbsup
    Definitely
He is worthy of all praise and thankfulness because of His gracious work of salvation.:Notworthy
