Not according to Jesus, after He healed a man on the Sabbath:

Jhn 5:16 ¶ And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay Him, because He had done these things on the sabbath day. Jhn 5:17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, (until the present time) and I work.

Jesus IS God incarnate and He has not yet rested. The Holy Spirit IS God and He is still working today. Can anyone explain WHY some teach that God has already rested?

    It's really simple, Ben.

Of course God is still working. So is Christ Jesus. So is the Holy Spirit.

God rested in Genesis 1 on the seventh day from creation. He created everything there is in 6 days - even things we as humans know nothing of today. Every time something is "discovered" - a new animal, plant, or galaxy. It's not new, just new to humanity or portions of humanity.

God's work is from age to age.

God's Creation was from Day 1 to Day 6. God rested and is still at rest from creation. He is a work daily in ruling in sovereignty over that creation.

YES! He rested each day after he created for the day.

Rest does not mean God tires.
    It doesn't mean he relaxed.
There is no disengagement implied with God resting.
To rest means God entered into his place of rule.
It's a place where God orders and maintains what he established.
    God rests in his temple

Let us come to His dwelling,
Let us bow to His footstool.
Rise, O LORD, to Your resting-place,
You and the Ark of Your strength.
For the LORD has chosen Zion,
He desired it as His seat.
    This is My resting-place evermore,
Here will I dwell, for I desired it.
    Psalm 136:7,8, 13,14 (Robert Alter 2019)

Ultimately we find our rest when we enter God's presence.

“Come to me, all of you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28–29, LEB)

God only rested for ONE DAY. Do you rest at night? Does that mean you don't do anything else ever again? Your view is just nonsense.

Well DavidTaylor, there is a bit of difficulty with it being a '24-hour day' in Hebrews 4... :Whistling ;)

“For he has spoken somewhere about the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works,” and in this passage again, ‘They will never enter into my rest.’ ” Since therefore it remains for some to enter into it, and the ones to whom the good news was proclaimed previously did not enter because of disobedience, again he ordains a certain day, today, speaking by David after so long a time, just as had been said before, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” For if Joshua had caused them to rest, he would not have spoken about another day after these things. Consequently a sabbath rest remains for the people of God. For the one who has entered into his rest has also himself rested from his works, just as God did from his own works. Therefore, let us make every effort to enter into that rest, in order that no one may fall in the same pattern of disobedience.” (Hebrews 4:4–11, LEB)

Hebrews 4 doesn't change it at all actually.

Amen. God is STILL working today and He will continue to work until His work is finished or brought to perfection AND Heaven is filled with ALL of it's host, which includes the last sinner to be saved, according to Genesis 2:1.

Amen, which means that God's rest is FUTURE since God rests from ALL of His work on the 7th Day, according to Genesis 2:2-3 This means that we live today at Genesis 1:27 since God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit continue to work today to fill Heaven with ALL of it's host or inhabitants.

God's rest will come when Heaven has been made perfect and filled with ALL of it's host. It is a contradiction to say that God continues to work even though He repeats that He has rested from ALL of His work on the 7th Day. In a nutshell, God told us the ENTIRE history of His 7 Days/Ages of creation in the first 34 verses of Genesis. From Genesis 2:4 to the end of Revelation, God gives us the details of those 7 Days/Ages.

This also confirms what Young Earth Christians have been telling mankind, by FAITH, for thousands of years. In 6 of His Days, God works to bring to perfection His perfect Heaven. Then, and only then, He rests from ALL of His work of creating, on the 7th Day/Age which has NO ending. He rests or ceases to create when Heaven is made perfect. Otherwise, He wouldn't be the perfect God. Amen?

Amen, and God will rest when the events at the end of the present 6th Day/Age are complete. That's why I show that Genesis 1:28-31 is prophecy of future events which take place AFTER Jesus returns to rule and reign on this Earth for a thousand years. Until then, God continues to create mankind in His Image or in Christ Spiritually. Amen?

Amen, but that presumes that God is NOT working in this world today. God's work of Salvation continues today. I see God as the Spirit of Love, and Love is everywhere, including the present and future world.

WHY did God, the invisible Spirit rest for 24 hours and then go back to work in contradiction to Genesis 2:2-3 which clearly states that He rested from ALL of His work. This view will make a lot more sense in Heaven when we read the complete History of God's 7 Day creation in the first 34 verses of Genesis. Amen?

Amen. Today is the Day/Age of Salvation. God's rest or when He ceases to create is Eternity.

Except the rested on the 7th day already happened. We are not in the 6th day. These are LITERAL 24 HOUR days.

Here's where you lose me. I have no idea where you make this connection at all.

Genesis 2:2-3 does NOT say God rested from ALL his work. That's your statement. Not the Bible's.

The Bible says that God rested from CREATION alone.

Genesis 2:2-3 = "And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. 3 So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation."

It doesn't contradict Geneses 2:2-3. Gen 2:2-3 does not say God was finished working. It says the creation week was finished and it was. Notice it does not say he rested from all of his work meaning everything that he has ever done like you try to portray. What does it ACTUALLY say? It says he rested from all of the work he had done in creation. Which is true. God is not creating new things. Creation, in the system he setup, is sustaining itself. Reproducing itself. That doesn't mean God is not controlling that reproduction, he is. But you are twisting way too many things together.

Your view doesn't make sense at all. It doesn't make historical sense, it doesn't make biblical sense, it doesn't make textual sense.

That is the theology of ancient Hebrews. We know that the word Day in Hebrew (Yowm) means ANY period of time and the KJV uses the word to mean 12 hours, 24 hours, a lifetime and forever. Since the 7th Day has no ending, it can also mean Eternity. IF God is still creating new Christians, then His work continues and it does. Just ask ANY Gospel preacher. Amen?

I have bolded and enlarged the word ALL in the verses your posted. It shows that God rests from ALL of His work on the 7th Day. Amen?

Doesn't work Scripturally since it says that God rests or ceases to create on the 7th Day. Today the agreement of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is required in order to create a New Creature in Christ, according to Genesis 1:27, Genesis 5:1-2 AND John 14:16. When God rests, on the 7th Day, He will cease His work of creating people in His Image or in Christ Spiritually. God stops creating Christians because His creation has been finished, or brought to perfection, which is the end of ALL of Gods perfect work.

The word "God" in Hebrew is Elohim and it is a plural name, showing the Trinity.
The word "Lord God" in Hebrew is YHWH and it is a singular name, the name of Jesus in the O.T.

Yes which is why you look at CONTEXT and how the rest of Scripture interprets and it is a 24 hour day in Genesis. See "The Meaning of Yom in Genesis 1:5" by David C Taylor, Jr

Except that is not what it says.

That is not what it says. You are reading that into the passage.
