I'm actually aware of that, but it still bothers me! Lol

By the way, I added that fact to the title of the thread just now! Lol

Why does his divorce bother you?

For a number of reasons, actually. One being: he doesn't practice what he preaches, to put it plainly.

My understanding was that he did not file for divorce, as that was his wife doing, and they did attempt to do a separation before that!

Yes, but he also promised to step down if the divorce did take place.

he submitted to his board, and they refused to accept, as his wife was one fording the issue! my understanding was not due to sexual sinning, more that she felt he was devoting his life to ministry and church over her...

But the point is: he did not keep his word. He did not fulfill his pledge!

And if his board refuses to accept, too bad! You step down anyway, if you are a man who keeps his word. If you're a man of integrity!

I believe that he looked at it being a "scriptural" allowed divorce, ad did not mean he was forced to stop pastoring!

It is old news. But it does bother me-- if it ever comes to mind any more-- that he said a divorced man is not qualified for a church office-- no qualifiers added-- and then he continues on as pastor. That is hypocrisy.

If a man cannot have his own house in order, how can he be responsible for the house of God?

This actually makes it worse, since it was not due to sexual sinning!

If it wasn't due to adultery, how is it scriptually allowed?

My point is not "can" he remain as pastor, but "should" he remain as pastor?

His wife filed for divorce, so he would not be liable under the NT understanding of the Marriage, and he never remarried, so Ok by that also!

Depends if the lord removes him out of being a pastor, as his gifts and calling to do that still seemed to be in place!
