    That's not christianity. let's see where you and I were before we were in him .
    Eph 2
    12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

    Well that's terrible for them. But for us who aren't, scripture makes it clear.
    1. What were we chosen for? We were chosen for salvation.
    2. When were we chosen for salvation? We were chosen before the foundation of the world.
    3. Where were we chosen for salvation? We were chose in Him.

    I said "chosen to be saved" which is "chosen to be converted".

    Ellicot? that well known non calvinist ?
    Christianity is the idea that we are only in him when we believe. Till then we are enemies, strangers , without hope and without God . Thats christianity.

    3¶Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

    4According

    Notice the : ? so verse 3 is the point .

    Then carry on ignoring eph 2 then and keep using eph 1.4 as a proof text .

    Here's a more elementary rendering of Eph. 1:3-4:
    Give praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. Those blessings come from the heavenly world. They belong to us because we belong to Christ. God chose us to belong to Christ before the world was created. He chose us to be holy and without blame in his eyes.

    Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

    1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
    1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

    1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

    1:8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

    1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

    1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

    1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

    1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

    I have always asked my self this question, how can I possibly be holy and blameless before him in love?... I can't but because I am in Jesus Christ, I am!... And I don't believe in the absolute predestination of all things... In my believe, God did not predestinate any one to Hell, since they are not in Christ, he just left them where they were... And I wish brethren on here would quit saying that Gods Elect Family is a remnant?..."ITS A MULTITUDE"... And unless stated in scripture, Jesus Christ the Eternal Son Of God WILL save ALL that his Father gave HIM and not LOSE a ONE!... Brother Glen:)

    Shall I read from the passion translation and see what that says also ? Or should we stick to a proper translation?

    That is a strange rendering which is why most Greek scholars choose to attach "in love" to verse 5.
    Eph. 1:5 - In love, he predestined us to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ for himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

    I only picked that translation because it seems that "standard" translations are tripping you up.
