The actual issue is should the SCOTUS rule the draft unconstitutional? Why in this day and age is it ok to put male humans in harm's way but not female humans? Coercion and compulsion are the vices of government. Maybe according to CRT, only white boys and girls should be drafted since they are racist due to skin color.

I just read through the article. Unless I missed it, it does not mention anyone making a case for requiring women to register for the draft, other than a possible nod to "equality".

Before answering the question concerning this further government overreach, how about posting accurate statistics on who would actually have to serve compared to who is in favor?

Those of age who would not qualify due to fitness or those whose sisters, daughters, or wives would not qualify, or could otherwise avoid the draft, might very well want to "volunteer" others.

The rhetorical arguments defending further government encroachment on society likely don't match what they intend. "Rebuilding levees"? "Repelling an invasion"? Really? Is that what this is about? What is insulting is their rhetoric.

“It’s insulting to suggest America’s mothers and wives and daughters couldn’t contribute, whether the need were rebuilding levees after a natural disaster or repelling an invasion from our shores,” Kori Schake, director of foreign and defense policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute, told the commission. “America’s daughters should be slotted into service as their physical and emotional suitability proves capable of, just like America’s sons.”

Women should be eligible for the draft, commission recommends

Women always served in the militaries of all countries of the world. It all depends on what kind arrangement they serve. Mostly women serve in the administrative centers of the military, and they also good at many non-combat duties as spices and intelligent gathering.

During WWII, Russian army extensively used women in combat operations, not because it was shortage of men, but because they were well qualified for certain duties.

Women flew small biplanes, mostly at night, and literally devastated German front line position each time they flew on combat mission. Biplanes flew low and quiet with almost silent approach to the target, and when Germans spotted one, it usually too late. This little biplanes can carry one or two bombs, and because of law altitude and quiet approach, bombing was quite accurate, but casualties of the of the bombing crew was also high.

Women serves in combat as nurses, on the front line, and they had been quite successful in that duty, not mention that they also served in hospitals.

Women snipers in the Red Army were as good as men, and they inflicted heavy casualties on the German personal, particularly on high ranking officers, which in return severely disabled German ability to conduct proper military operations.

Units of only sniper women were formed on different positions of the front line, in places where they most needed. They greatly contributed to the war effort and put German command in disarray.

Women also were good spices, enlisted and non-enlisted in the Army, and they provided essential information about German positions and their plans.

But I absolutely agree that then it comes to actual combat, women are incapable to do the physical load that required for men in combat.

In general I am not against women to serve in the Army, they are very useful if they are put on the right place, and so, we should allow them to serve in the Army but only in capacity where they will be useful and helpful.

But this is not about if women should served (voluntarily) - BUT should women be required to register for the draft and possibly be drafted.

and I will add this to the OP -
Lets say women are be drafted -
What about those who are mothers - would it make a difference if the chill is one year old or 16 years old
What happens if on the day of induction - a women is pregnant....

If women want to be considered equal with men for pay, promotion, etc. then they should be treated equally. If you draft men you draft women. It seems to me everyone wants to be equal until it is inconvenient for them. I am sure there are women in the forces now that have children so I think that situation, if and when it arises can be dealt with. That's my two cents worth anyway.

As we read Gods word in Old Testament times, the men were the warriors. Women had their positions at home taking care of home and family.
