When the Lord directs us to move - we will -
But until then - we have a ministry here in Oneida that needs a Shepard

Salty and I serve Our Lord where He has placed us. Do you want us to be Jonahs refusing to go to Ninevah?

I don't care where you go. If you stay in Commie land, enjoy the persecution. Ninevah repented. New York seems to be going the other way. It is amazing to me that Baptists believe extra Biblical revelation has ceased. They believe Pentecostals are crazy for saying "God told me...". For some strange reason God talks to Baptist preachers about, and only about, what church to pastor.
    Always found that odd.

Yes, Ninevah did repent. But apparently, Jonah never discipled Ninevah - then what happened some 150 years later????

You are mixing up revelation and guidance. Revelation is when God gives eternal truth that is applicable to all people. Guidance is when the Holy Spirit gives individual direction to a believer. So when God called me to preach, then to be a missionary to Japan, then who to marry, then where to start a church in the Kanto Plain, that was all specific to me. It didn't apply to anyone else except my wife.

So, there is no disjunct whatsoever when a Baptist preacher says, "Revelation has ceased" and when he says "God guided me to where He wants me to serve." But I've never heard or read of a "revelation" given to a Pentecostal which was true revelation for all humans everywhere. A Pentecostal can be guided just like a Baptist can, but the canon of the Bible is closed.

I am not mixing up the two. What else do you hear God tell a Baptist preacher?

To be clear, I do not "enjoy" the persecution by the powers that be in the Peoples' Republic of California. Sure it yes, enjoy it no. Then someone has to be the light in the darkness. I didn't move here from another state. I was born in San Francisco and all my family lives in the West, Calif., Az, Washington State). In the last fifty-plus years, I've seen what happens when conservatives leave the state.

Did y'all shut down? Stop singing? Wear masks? Go virtual? Just wondering because I didn't see you on the news fighting the state like I saw MacArthur.

We picked our fights and went virtual. Though we went back to in person at our first opportunity. We let MacArthur take the point. He has deeper pockets and a more friendly set of judges to appear before.

Guess it's good MacArthur fought the battle for you. I have heard him talk about how much he "Appreciates" the "support" he got from most of the other churches in California. (sarcasm emphasis)

Reynolds, we are a much smaller church than MacArthur's (+/-180 members). We are also located in San Francisco (since 1881). So, we don't have the community support he has. Our live video services drew more viewers than our live services. As we tracked them, our viewership was worldwide.

The first few weeks - we did not meet - because we are extremely small and most of us have underling issues - and took extra caution = and we as well did the service on line. Once things settled down - we restarted services in our building

Nope, you certainly are mixing up the two. Either that, or you don't know how to express yourself understandably about the two. In your post I quoted you mentioned "extrabiblical revelation," then in the same context (without differentiating) you talked about Baptist preachers feeling led to a certain church.

I never hear anything from Baptist preachers that might be considered revelation, but I do hear from many the guidance of the Holy Spirit (and have experienced it myself hundreds of times). On the other hand, I have read and heard of many Charismatics (not necessarily Pentecostals--the two movements are historically different, you know) who claimed to have revelation from God.

Historically the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements were different. There has now been a merging that makes all but the most primitive hard liners indistinguishable.
I understand the difference between the inward voice and Revelation. My point is most Baptist preachers only hear from God when it involves changing churches or spending a lot of money.
MacArthur recently answered a question about this. At least he was consistent with his answer.
