In a recent thread a view of a poster suggested that Arminians get "saved"
Then move away from doctrine as they mature.
Do you believe that?
Moving away from doctrine is incremental apostasy.
Joseph Smith and Mary Baker Eddy...moved away from doctrine, claiming God led them to do it.
What do you believe on this?

1tim 4:1....departing from the faith,doctrines of devils....
1tim4:13...give attendance to doctrine
1tim.4:16...take heed to thyself and unto the doctrine. Continue in them: 4 and doing this Thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
There is nothing in scripture about moving away from doctrine.

Do you think he was moving away from doctrine Reynolds?
Why do you suggest he was moving away?
He and others were not infallible and most of us hold things a bit off center, but to suggest moving away from doctrine is a sign of maturity is fatally flawed.
He was moving away from corrupt RC.doctrine, and might not have found more of the truth as he could have.

He was moving away from established doctrine.
I am not mininmalizing the importance of doctrine, but doctrine must not be put on the level of scripture. Doctrine is man's interpretation of Scripture and must never be elevated to the level of Scripture.

Well....Any doctrine comes from scripture.
It could be the correct use of scripture,
Or an incorrect use of scripture.
Scripture is Scripture.
Doctrine is what does scripture teach.
Everyone claims they believe scripture, even cults.
We are responsible for what we hold to.
I will always be in a confessional Church for that reason...it states we believe scripture teaches these doctrines.
If I visit a Presbyterian church, I know where they stand on Covenant children for example so I am not shocked to hear that term used.
When I visit an Arminian church, or one who pleads the fifth.osas..
I know mostly what to expect.
When you have people who offer up vague I just believe the bible, I have moved away from doctrine statements, that makes me nervous, and I tend to avoid that kind of thought as highly dangerous and I distance myself from such ideas.

Those who hate doctrine are the least mature believers if believers at all.

Complete nonsense. I hate the unbiblical teaching that Jesus Christ died only for the so called elect. Because it breeds snobs!

I am a very serious and dedicated believer in my Saviour and Lord

To say that any doctrine comes from Scripture is not correct. There are some who say that the Bible teaches the Ransom Theory of the Atonement, which has its origin in hell!

Was Paul teaching a ransom thinking when instructing?
5For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6the One having given Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony in their own proper times, 7in regard to which I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am speaking the truth; I do not lie—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

We see the wholesale move away from up until now established and held Doctrines such as infallible and inspired Bible, Male headship, and denying Psa, and accepting Charasmatic Chaos!

It is problematic. One is going to hold to some kind of teaching one way or another. It is nonsense to claim to move away from doctrine also known as a teaching. To move away from a doctrine is to move to some other doctrine.

The Ransom Theory of the Atonement teaches that Jesus Christ paid a Ransom to the devil for the release of all sinners who were in bondage. This is what Augustine taught
