Why do you think forum leadership allows so many posters to addresses the supposed flaws in other posters, rather than the biblical issue?

    Mean-spiritedness sows discord.

    That is prevalent here.

You'd have to pm the Administration directly to get their reasoning for allowing this place to be what it is.

Were this a more specific board (a SBC board, a Reformed board, a free-will theology board, etc.) then you probably would see less ungodly behavior.

Some come to defend their views, others to learn what other people believe. Some play well with others, some need to preach to the choir. Most are a mixture of all the above.

A thing to keep in mind when an opponent goes personal they have lost the agreement. We should not go person back, [though we might really want to,] but keep our argument Biblical.

Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another"

There are certain forums that exist for debates, and they can get heated, and though going.

There are other forums that exist for frendship and chitter-chatter

    Each to their own.

I can take as I can give, we live in a real world, where people can get very angry and hostile when you witness to them about Jesus Christ!

I tend to be like you. I am retired Army and can be straight forward and blunt. I don't mean anything personal and don't take anything personal (or try not to).

But this is also something I have had to work on. When we debate (or do anything) it should be in the Spirit of love. We are called to be kind and gentle with one another.

Here we have people like me who can come off as insulting and rude. But we also have people who are emotional and very easily offended.

Both types need to adjust for the other. We are our brother's keeper.

I try (really, I do) to dial it down. My hope is others are able to extend that grace to overlook when I fail. The abrasive should try to be less abrasive and the easily offended less easily offended.

I heard Phil Vischer make this argument once, and it is a terrible argument. The emotional appeal fallacy would best categorize this statement.
Bringing up African Americans that profess to be believers and vote democrat, in order to demonstrate that it isn't sinful because black people do it, is itself sinful.

I think they think it is within forum posting rules or they would have taken action. It is probably wise for you not to speculate on their reasoning.

    Have a great day...

They don't just profess, they live out their faith. It is a fallacy that you must vote for Republicans just because they don't support abortion...and if you vote for a Democrat...you cannot be a Christian. That...is the fallacy.

Dismissing sin due to someone's skin color is characteristic of the CRT movement which is swallowing up large swaths of traditionally conservative Christianity, and sound biblical teachers (formerly).
Tell me how a believer whose life testifies to salvation can vote for a party that has decidedly made it's brand the party of; Child sacrifice, homosexuality, obscuring of genders, sexualization of children, anti family/marriage, demeaning of people due to white skin, (now) handing out crack pipes to the black community, and in general being hostile towards biblical Christianity?
And no, voting republican is not necessarily a moral choice either, many are just as corrupt, and willing to compromise in order to get elected. I think in many situations now a days it is moral to not vote.

    Your last paragraph is correct.

What is incorrect is the claim that a person who votes for a Democrat cannot be a Christian. Such a statement is the mark of the spirit of a Pharisee.
The platforms and planks of a political party certainly should help inform our vote. The content and character of an individual should also inform our vote.
Looking at the Illinois governorship, it was interesting to see both Democrat and Republican Governor's going to jail for criminal activity over the past couple decades. Corruption is in both parties. Looking at the last Presidential election, we had two godless candidates who despised Christians. I could not conscientiously vote for either candidate, yet many Christians voted for either of the two anti-christ candidates and in fact nearly worship them.

At a minimun - do a write-in-vote (based on your State/Commonwealth) as some will not even count write-ins.

Some of the discussions here on the BB board have caused me to rethink some of the things I believe. I do think it is important to distinguish between essentials and secondary issues of our Christian faith. Some of the secondary issues are still very imporatant issues.

Some Baptist writers on the BB make me thankful they are not in MY church. We took church discipline seriously and promoting false doctrine would get more than a "point" against you.

BTW I was an active Democrat thru undergrad days (in a Baptist college majoring in pastoral studies). Worked hard in the 1968 Presidential primaries, until the party left me. Note: I WAS a Christian both before and after my involvement in the party.

Anybody who says membership in a political party determines true salvation is obviously oblivious to reality, really.

    Present company accepted.

    ;) ;)

The problem of langauge and what we understand words and or phrases to mean.

    "The Biblical Atonement."
Every Christian on this board will agree with this phrase.
But the difference between the perishing of the lost and Christ's payment making that atonement are both the same and totally different in some important ways.
The wages of sin is death (Ezekiel 18:4). And Christ died in place of sinners (1 Corinthians 15:3, Isaiah 53:10). There is what is the same and what is different. The lost will have an unquechable fire (Mark 9:48). Christ did not (Psalms 22:6).

One should explain the truth as one knows it. Merely denying terminoloty one disagrees with does not help one to correctly understand the view not held.
