Church is a gathering place of the saints. It is not a hospital. To say go to church anyway when committing the sins of your O.P., would necessitate throwing out every admonishment of Church discipline given us by Paul.
I would say the meme is for attendees of a liberal church. Most probably are not saved.I tend to agree (mind you - I found this from a friend on FB)
But is this meme for Christians or non-Christians?
Does God expect the unsaved to be walking lives not burdened by sin though?Church is a gathering place of the saints. It is not a hospital. To say go to church anyway when committing the sins of your O.P., would necessitate throwing out every admonishment of Church discipline given us by Paul.
Think that the Lord has MUCH more of a problem with us claiming to be saved having sin issues then not saved having them !Only God knows what's in a man's heart and unless the man told you what he did... You're there to serve God not to judge others... Judge yourself!... Go to church anyway... We all walk with feet of clay... Haven't you heard there is a warfare going on?... Go to church anyway... What riles me to no end is sanctimonious Christians?... Is church for saints?... And its for sinners too!... Even sinning saints!... How many saints have a gambling addiction?... There are other sin besides those mentioned but do you come to church because you are so good?... Or do you come to church to find out how you can do better and find help to do so?... I come to church with all my warts and imperfection and the preacher who give the sermon says sometimes I'm just like you... The devil doesn't take a vacation just because someone is a Christian... Christ doesn't keep someone from coming to church, we do... And the OP proves it... Brother Glen![]()
The real question would be "What is the purpose of the local church?". The local church , as it regards evangelism, is to equip saints to go into the world, make converts and bring them into the church.Does God expect the unsaved to be walking lives not burdened by sin though?
How do you reconcile your view to Paul's commands on Church discipline?Only God knows what's in a man's heart and unless the man told you what he did... I agree with you on that, but also think we should not be asking people if they are saved before allowed in!The real question would be "What is the purpose of the local church?". That applies towards those who profess and claimed to be already saved, not to the lost! How do you reconcile your view to Paul's commands on Church discipline?
Agree. If course that would not be the case for membership.I agree with you on that, but also think we should not be asking people if they are saved before allowed in!
It kind of goes without saying that Paul would not have allowed the behavior from anyone in his churches. That applies towards those who profess and claimed to be already saved, not to the lost!
How do you reconcile your view to Paul's commands on Church discipline?
IF they were claiming to be saved, true!It kind of goes without saying that Paul would not have allowed the behavior from anyone in his churches.
true, but the OP was concerning sinners coming into our churches!Agree. If course that would not be the case for membership.
It was concerning sinners living in repetitive, unrepentant sin continually coming to church while living in sin.true, but the OP was concerning sinners coming into our churches!
But is the church the corporate group who meet - or is it Each Christian indivudally who is part of the church?
