Calvinist vs Arminian. One or the other is Dead wrong. Wrong is wrong. One group or the other is as wrong as the majority of what you listed.

Arminian/free-willer/anti-Cal/etc is our 'default position' from being raised in a merit oriented world. Most 'Calvinists' began as 'Arminian'. The idea of 'the free gift' of eternal life is foreign to us merit oriented creatures and takes time to assimilate.

One or the other is wrong. That is my point. Which one is not pertinent here. The point is that a wrong doctrine is accepted under the Baptist Umbrella.

One is more 'advanced' doctrinally than the other, that is my point.

This is one argument that baffles me, in a baptist thread. Why are we arguing calvin vs arminian. I was a baptist all my life. I reject both views.. and no baptist I know agrees with either.

so why are we trying t pit two groups as if one of them is right and one is wrong. when they are both wrong?

I am pointing out that Baptists selectively decide which hills they will die on when it comes to what is and is not "false doctrine".

what brings you to your conclusion?

Are you talking about your post where you said one of the two is right and one is wrong. As if it can not be any other way.

I do not believe that statement is true. I believe both sides has issues. there are some points an Arminian will make which I think is based on facts. there are some parts which a Calvinist will make I think is based on facts.

which is why to be honest no matter what christian chat room you are in (unless your in an arminian chat or a calvinist chat) I wonder why we argue these points. No matter what chatroom I have been in, these are the most heated debates I have soon, in one chatroom. I saw multiple people (I would say over ten) get banned from that chatroom from both sides because of the hate and viscous name calling and attack which are quite unchristlike.

most of these debates you have people who claim everyone has to be one or the other. there is no two ways about it. So they want to attack you and say your a calvinist because you believe in OSAS. or your an arminian because you believe in NOSAS and they can not even sit and hear a word you say, when you deny you believe something that you do not. they call you a liar and attack you saying your a calvinist, so you must believe that.

I have yet to meet a fruitful conversation in any chatroom, or any debate outside of a chatroom of arminian vs calvin. so why are we arguing and trying to pit these two groups against each other.

do we want to discuss eternal security and predestination (calvins view or non calvin view) lets talk about them, not from a perspective of calvin vs arnminian, but from a biblical perspective. Do we want to talk about how and why salvation can be lost. lets discuss that. Not calvin vs arminan.

as I said, I do not hold either view. and no baptist I know would hold either (not saying there are not any, there may well be) A baptist hold to eternal security (at least everyone I know. I used to be called southern baptists did not. But then I met some and found that to be false) so they would be attacked as a calvinist, when they are not..

so in a calvin vs arminian debate, there can be no honest conversation. especially in a baptist room, because a baptist will be attacked as a calvinist and be attributed with calvinist beliefs when they may hold some. but do not hold them all (they reject double predestination, and lack of the freedom of all men and women on earth to freely chose to recieve christ among other things.

For every point of view there can be more than it being either merely true or false.
