Ha ha. You are aware that the catcher gives the pitcher the pitch and location electronically this season, right?

I am still skeptical about how what the Astros did in 2017 really helped much, if at all. They weren't doing it on the road obviously. Also, the crowds are so loud during the playoffs I doubt it would have helped at home much, if at all. And overall, I find it doubtful that someone under the stadium looking at a screen, having to wait until the sign sequence was finished, decide whether the pitch was a fastball or a breaking ball, tell someone(or do it themselves) to bang on a trash can, the batter has to concentrate to pick up the sound from under that stadium and over the crowd noise(and the Astros have drawn well since they started winning in the mid-2010s), all the while trying to concentrate on the pitcher's movements during just a very few seconds(especially when no runner is on base) before the ball is delivered. Frankly, when I first heard about it, I thought it was ridiculous and was extremely skeptical that the scheme would be effective, and I still think it was a ridiculous scheme and I am still skeptical that it was effective. Also, the Astros won the World Series at the Los Angeles Dodgers' stadium, so they certainly couldn't use the scheme there.

Personally, I think the only reason MLB ever said anything about it publicly was because the Astros won the World Series. If they had lost in the playoffs, I doubt anything would have been said about it publicly. It is my firm belief that the MLB front office would love to have the ALCS be the Yankees vs. Red Sox every year and would love to have the NLCS be the Dodgers vs. Mets every year, with the World Series being the Yankees vs. Dodgers every year. The success of the Astros from 2017 forward has thrown a huge monkey wrench into what the MLB front office wants. Also, MLB sure tried to keep the report about the Yankees' cheating scandal around the same time period under wraps. Then when they were forced to release it to the public, the excuse for them was that it wasn't all that bad (ha ha). Also, the Red Sox were exposed as well for cheating. Do a search on cheating scandals in MLB history(including the recent one when we learned last year that most MLB pitchers had been using an illegal substance for years to get a better grip and more spin, and also the one about the famous 1951 New York Giants) of "Shot Heard 'Round the World" fame. Plus I am skeptical that the Astros were the only team trying to steal signs(even through electronic means) in 2017.

I agree with you. And I'm sure you're right about other teams.

One standing rule in MLB is that if you ain't cheating you ain't trying.

    1. Yes, George Jetson did.
    2. I love the song. Came out in the 1980s.

I became an Astros fan in 1963 when they were called the Colt .45s and played in Colt Stadium. Wish that was still their nickname. Had a great logo.

It's funny how we become fans of particular teams.

My first game was a Braves game played at Fulton Stadium. My father took me. I guess I had to be around 7 years old.

When Ed Kranepool from the Mets came to speak at our church as a guest speaker for a Father & Son breakfast in the basement of the church school and signed my baseball, I began watching the Mets. Later they managed the penant then the Series. The Wilpon ownership kept hobbling them, like trading a very wild relief pitcher named Nolan Ryan instead of training him in ball control…then they traded players who brought them to the series in order to bring in Willie Mays for one last year(even though Willie no longer had it) just to sell tickets! They are rightly called “The Mess!” And Steve Cohen, “Mr. Billionaire” who also grew up watching this team will have to start putting his boot where the sun don’t shine. Come on, Houston Astros!?! Both NY teams need to feel ashamed…. Where have you gone Joe Demagio (and Joe Torrie) and the Amazings blah blah. And what is with the Redsocks and with the big Red Machine in Cincinnati ?!? That was baseball!

I have a beef with the Mets -
A couple of years ago they bought the AAA Syracuse Chiefs -(no problem there)
but what got me is that they changed the name to the Syracuse Mets.
For Decades, we have been the Syracuse Chiefs (a couple of years - SkyChiefs)
The Chiefs are tradition here in CNY.

The Mets have 4 farm teams. Syr Mets and the St Lucie Mets

Two other teams have retained their names
Brooklyn Cyclones and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies

I will not go to MacArthur Stadium for a pro game until the Chiefs are playing.

Most sporting events I have attended - have been free
Trade out tickets with our radio station.
Execpt in Princeton, WV - when I got paid - for being the stadium announcer!
that year, we were the Class A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
