Through January 12, 2023, the national debt of the United States federal government has increased by $455 billion since the 2023 fiscal year began on October 1, 2022.

Which, when extrapolated out, would end up with an increase to the national debt for the whole fiscal year 2023(assuming that the rate of increase remains the same for the next 8.5 months) of "only" around $1.6 trillion, compared to the increase in the national debt in fiscal year 2022 of $2.5 trillion.

So "good news" of a theoretical decrease of $900 billion dollars in the increase in the national debt year over year shows just how awful the fiscal situation is that the federal government has gotten itself into, with the acquiescence of the Federal Reserve, in the 21st century, which started off with the national debt at $5.7 trillion and now is at $31.4 trillion.

Great job there, you Democrats and Republicans!

Dribs and drabs and virtue signaling would be laughable, if the situation wasn't so serious.
