Ed Ames

Ed Ames died on May 21, 2023. He was 95. In the past two years or so I have tried to keep up with him (and others) on Wikipedia to see if he had died or not. Apparently I didn't look him up in the past nearly two weeks.

I first remember him playing Mingo on the Daniel Boone Show (1964-1970).

I've always liked Dean Martin's version of "The Naughty Lady Of Shady Lane." Then I learned that Ed and his brothers first recorded it in 1955.

The song he is most noted for is "My Cup Runneth Over With Love." It's beautiful. He had such a strong and rich bass/baritone voice --even in his 80s.

Ed seemed to carry himself well with dignity. He was a secular Jew, so I presume he didn't know the Lord. I will miss him.

 

Leonard Nimoy was not actually half Earthling and half Vulcan. To play the role they should have found someone who had characteristics of both.
