Jon, in another thread - asked about the death penalty for drug dealers.
    I inadvertently hijacked a bit
Thus I asked to get that Thread back on OP.

So, lets talk about the Death Penalty in general

What crimes should the Death Penalty be applied?
Murder in General - or just 1st degree - 2nd Degree, mansalughter, ect

    Crimes against women and/or children?

How long should appeals go for

Would you want to be attendance at the execution of a criminal

Should the Death penalty only be applied to a mass murder - ie 5, 10,15 or more
    on for even just one.

Should abortion doctors be guilty of murder

    The OT states 2 witnesses
would DNA be considered a "Witness".

So we will be pretty opened minded on this thread
as long as it deals with the Death penalty.

There have been too many instances where people have been falsely accused of crimes, even murder, and were later found to innocent of the crime they were convicted of. I would be fine with not using the death penalty and use life without parole instead.

I don't support the death penalty. If I did consider it this would have to be under the OT guidelines - the testimony of two witnesses. This ties in the witnesses (they have "skin in the game" and face consequences if they lie).

But the OT Scripture does not allow the death penalty for selling drugs. As far as I know, it does not for kidnapping or slavery either.

So even if we lived under the Law, it would be a crime to execute drug dealers for selling drugs.

No. The testimony of two witnesses is not the same as DNA. DNA can be planted. The presence of DNA can be misinterpreted. But more importantly, there has to be two actual witnesses that testify of the murder.

Under the OT the death penalty applies for more than murder. It applies for accidental killing, for example. BUT those who accidentally caused the death of another could flee to a city of refuge and remain there for their entire lives.

DNA may show evidence. But it does not describe the crime (was it a "crime of passion"? If so, the death penalty is given but the murderer can flee. Did the murderer lie in wait? If so then a city of refuge is not an option.

More importantly, however, is that we are not under the Law.

Since 1973 at least 190 people have been exonerated from death row. A 2014 study showed 4% that had been on death row were innocent. And that's just the ones we know about.

Abortion Doctors are all guilty of murder. They should be put to death.
Yes I would attend the execution.
It should be for murder only. That is an opinion only, not a studied position.

True - but not being under the law does not prohibit us for having that option.

In fact - currently some cities - are cities of refuge for certain crimes.
