I looked up early and was watching Fox news (I watch the news for noise). But it was too repetitive so I flicked the channel to CNN (I kinda like seeing both propaganda agents).

But CNN was a lot like Fox. Not quite but almost putting hope in Trump as a possible "savior".

Is CNN moving from its extreme left position?

    What gives?

    No, CNN has not changed.

I watched some of their coverage immediately after. One “analyst” complained DT was “shaking his fist and shouting fight fight fight” and said the country doesn’t need that kind of language right now. They wanted to see him covered in blood and cowering in fear. They know this was a powerful image of a powerful, determined man that will not be stopped.

Another stated we don’t need to be talking about “vengeance” right now. This is a reference to DT saying his “vengeance” will be success.

I saw another, MBC?, claiming the reporters don’t feel safe at the Repub convention.

They’ve been calling DT Hitler, mentally unstable, a dictator, a fascist, a racist, the greatest threat to democracy the country has ever faced for 8 years. Their rhetoric contributed to the current divisions in the country.

I won’t give them a pass though have one commentator stumble across saying something positive about DT.

    peace to you

Maybe it was just what was on when I flipped the channel. They were only Republicans and one Democrat with a host (no clue who).

    I just thought it odd.

I treat politics like a sport. It's interesting to see the propaganda on each side. But I don't keep up with the "journalists".

Psalms 118:8-9 It is better to trust in the LORD
Than to put confidence in man.
It is better to trust in the LORD
Than to put confidence in princes.

Psalms 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man,
In whom there is no help.

Off topic. I said I like to look at propaganda on both sides.

I do not put my trust in the powers of this age. I don't vote (I am a "sojourner" here, in but not of the World).

But to engage with people who are worldly, and reach them, it is helpful to understand their fears and anxieties.

Oh, I am not saying you are looking to any mere mortal as a "savior". But I know in throughout history, as well as in the present day, people have looked to mere mortals as a "savior". Such people are so caught up in this present, carnal world that they think it can be made into a "heaven on earth", folks who want to rebuild paradise by their own efforts after Adam and Eve were kicked out of it, instead of looking forward to the return of Christ and the destruction of this present heavens and earth and the establishment of the new heavens and earth wherein dwells righteousness.

    I agree.

Basically I don't often watch political news but when I do it's to see how far each strays into propaganda. It is a guage of how far we, as a nation, has declined.

Would I participate in secular politics? Absolutely not.

Can't blame you for that. After the riot at the national capitol on 1/6/2021, I didn't go out of my way to watch or listen to news or politics for a while. I am back into that same mode starting last Saturday evening; maybe for a while again or maybe permanently.

I am wondering how things will go now.

Biden and the Democrats are in the same position as Trump was on Jan 6. Biden said to put Trump in the "bullseye", Waters said to "take him out". Then you have all the DNC propaganda that Trump would be a dictator, cause a "bloodbath", end democracy, etc.

If Trump is smart he will take the high road and not blame Biden for the shooting. But he could respond in kind.

It's interesting. I just don't have a dog in the hunt.

It'd be like watching a baseball game with the Rockies against the White Socks. :Biggrin

Or for me, in watching the Republican and Democratic Parties, it is like watching a Yankees vs. Dodgers game; I want both teams to lose. In the case of the Republican and Democratic Parties, if we had a properly functioning political system, then they both could lose in a presidential race, as they should based on how terribly they have ruled the United States during the first 24 years of the 21st century.

Yankees and Dodgers is a very good picture.

I had been reading about Tammany Hall while on a cruise (yes....I got bored).

I am not sure that the corruption is so recent. Perhaps technology and social media contributes more than we have considered. People follow a "god" and believe anything their chosen masters tell them. And all of these "gods" paint one another as the destroyer of worlds.

In the end they are of the same "powers", serving the same master. They may be divided but they are on a larger scale recruiting for the same principalities of this world.

It's like owning a Burger King and a McDonald's. The people may be divided in loyalty but the owner wins either way.

On debate night, I thought the CNN moderators did a good job, asking questions that did not overly favor the Left.

OTOH, manipulators will take an occasional position to provide cover, while covertly putting their thumbs on the scale.

I only recall that there was one statement before a question that was a lead for Biden....but I can't remember what it was.

They did good. I think they knew a lot was at stake for CNN.

Sort of waded back into the news today and it seems that the assassination attempt on Donald Trump has basically come and gone in the news coverage, probably because the GOP convention started so soon afterward and then after Trump speaks tonight the attention in the news will be on if, or ,I am hearing in the news, when, President Biden will withdraw from the presidential race(I wouldn't be surprised if it is during a national address on this coming Sunday evening or Monday evening).

So I have already got back into paying attention to the news again(I thought the assassination attempt might occupy the news for a month, now it seems to be on to the investigation of the Secret Service and local law enforcement and their failures), especially since a Biden withdrawal would be the first by a sitting president running for reelection since Lyndon Johnson did so in 1968. I remember watching his speech as a 12 year old kid without having any idea he was going to do that. A Biden withdrawal will certainly make what was shaping up to be an extremely boring(from a non-Democrat/non-Republican perspective) presidential race into one that could be quite interesting.

It's potential to be interesting depends on who is picked to replace Biden.....or if Biden stays in.

I think if Biden stays after assuring Democrats 4 years ago he would not seek a second term it may become less interesting in a way.

When did he assure Dems he wouldn't seek a second term? I missed that.

I usually do as well, except to see the propaganda.

But during the RNC Convention it was necessary (I only had CNN and Fox at the time and Fox News was talking over the speakers...about the shooting).

When he was running for President he idindicated - but didn't publicly state - that if elected he woud be a one term transitional President. This was what he had told his staff, and why it was important to choose a younger delectable VP who could serve two terms.
