Three issues of translation.

Re: quoting:
Modern developments in technology allow us to precisely quote a person long after they have spoken.
In ancient society where oral transmission of a message was common, precision was looser and substance was key.
It wasn't necessary to quote verbatim in order to accurately present the original message.

This can be observed in Scripture by

1) the numerous quotes of the OT in the NT
2) the quotes of Jesus which varied in the Gospels,

Example:

And the one sown with seed among the thorns, this is the one who hears the word, and the anxiety of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
Mt 13:22 NASB2020

And others are the ones sown with seed among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word, but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desires for other things enter and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
Mk 4:18–19 NASB2020

And the seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked by worries, riches, and pleasures of this life, and they bring no fruit to maturity. Lk 8:14 NASB2020​

3) the quotes the apostle Paul used of various philosophers (e.g. Acts 17:28).​
