I was “ born again “ in Catholicism at Baptism, which accords with majority of Christianity today, and universally in Christianity for the first 1500 years.
But I also had a powerful encounter with Christ as an adult professing Him in Faith as my Lord Saviour. But this profession takes place every day since in prayer time.
No, what you reject is any interpretation of Scripture that differs from your interpretation of Scripture.

Catholics are Word of God alone.
The Word of God comes in two forms. The Spoken Word of God, and the Written Word of God.
“But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached /spoken unto you.”
The Spoken Word of God endures forever in the Catholic Church, not in the protesting churches who rejected the Spoken Word, and took only the Written Word.
Not having the Spoken Word to interpret the Written Word, they scattered into each man’s own interpretations and traditions, traditions of men.
The whole point of the Written Word of God is to receive the Word of God Incarnate, Jesus Himself in the Eucharist and receive His Life.
When we eat Jesus Flesh and drink His Blood in the Eucharist we abide in The Word and The Word abides in us.
We receive direct Life from the Eternal, God from God, Light from Light, Communion between the mortal and The Eternal.
Only Jesus is Life. Jesus our connection to The Eternal.
“Rightly, then, do we believe that now also the bread which is consecrated by the Word of God is changed into the Body of God the Word. For that Body was once, by implication, bread, but has been consecrated by the inhabitation of the Word that tabernacled in the flesh. Therefore, from the same cause as that by which the bread that was transformed in that Body was changed to a Divine potency, a similar result takes place now. Even though our eyes and minds can’t fully grasp the enormity of the Eucharist at Communion, our souls and hearts can feel the Holy Presence of Jesus. My heart always races before Communion even though I have been at complete rest the whole time in Church. Sometimes it starts the night before.
This is the longing of the soul. We are totally reliant on Jesus and our soul knows this in the inner most part.
“As the deer longs for running streams, so my soul longs for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?”
We do enter, and the Soul asks “When can I enter and see the face of God?”

At Communion we enter with our entire being, and Jesus enters us with His entire Being, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.

“As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me, will live because of me.”
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any man shall hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
At Communion we do open the door and He does come into us and sups with us, and we with Him.
