It doesn’t say divided by half of itself.
If you divide 500 into groups of .5, you end up with twice as many groups as you have objects. 500/.5+50=
!!!! Auto correct or the sentence completing function gave me the answer before I could type it.
You try it. Ask a search engine for the answer.

Difference indicates the function is subtraction.
As stated verbally, it should be written numerically 101-(-99)=200

Also, correctly written to get 2, it should be |101| - |-99|=
