First off, it seems the pastor is not keeping his family orderly. The wife does not dictate to the husband. His wife is in rebellion and he is not much of a pastor for letting her remain in rebellion.

Whatever. It's a fair discussion of slavery in general. To deal with a particular group in a vacuum is intellectual dishonesty. What date did Civil war begin? What date was emancipation proclamation issued? What date did slavery end in the Union?

I keep seeing the "Two wrongs don't make a right " argument here. It is not applicable here because this is still in the time period where the entire world was engaged in or had very recently been engaged in the wrong. There was a wrong, but the United States was , like the rest of the world...
