My wife and I watched the premier of thr NBC show
The Book Of Daniel @ 8:00 PM E. The writers had to put in a lot of over time to come up with this perverted piece of trash. I am reminded of the dance I believe from the 60's in which the objective was to see "how low you could go" Well this was it.
90% of the commercial time was on NBC promos
    of othe NBC shows.
For your information these are the commercial sponsors which I plan on voicing my desent personally wherever possible and written ones in
    all other instances.
    Burlington Coat Factories (2 spots), H & R Block,
Toyota,a and Shak Oneil Icy Hot, Just For Men
    and IHOP.

Didn't watch it. I knew it was trash before hand and chose not to watch.

And this is different from most of the trash on the TV now-s-days how?

Just because it trys to have a religous overtone doesn't make it any worse than 75% of the shows on Tv today.

It is postmodern propaganda. I watched it off and on as I flipped channels. I was really impressed when he was looking for his pills that he abuses and Jesus told him where to look. Yeah Right!

I was just saying, that TV these days is no good.. Where are the good shows like M*A*S*H? [IMG]

I was agreeing with the both of you about the new show, but also adding that TV in general is and has been in a down spin..

My main objective was to make everyone aware of the sponsors and give you the opportunity to contact them if you wish to do so. It was exactly
as expected, or perhaps a little worse.

(I also posted this in another thread)

    I watched.

It is basically the typical half-witted, sophmoric, "shock-em-so-they-watch-again", mind and spirit numbing drivel that is network TV.

I can take a dramatic story that displays the "falleness" of humans, especially if it has at least a little bit of an uplifting or redeeming value. This show has none!

It is blatantly offensive to Episcopals, Catholics, Christians in general and anyone other thinking, descent American. I imagine it is trying to be "Desperate Houswives" with some liberal Christians and their friends thrown in. In other words, it may be a huge hit!

...and the major networks wonder why they "lost" me (and my demographic) to the "History Channel", "National Geographic Channel", etc 15 years ago!

Here is where I disagree. I am not sure the Episcopalians would be offended by this.

I didn't watch the show---sorry, guys---the review was enough to make me want to gag. But this is what I want to figure---how long is it gonna take the genuine Born-again bunch to figure out who Hollywood is---and that the best films they can produce are birthed in the bowels of Hell itself and that they cannot ever produce anything with any sort of genuine spirituality---I mean, think about it!!! They can't even get the life of Jesus Christ RIGHT on film-----what makes any of us think they can get the life of a backslidden Episcopalian preacher right?????

    God help us!

Not to get too far off topic, but how many of us watched Touched By An Angel ? I thought that was also a very unScriptural show. I only watched 2-3 episodes; the last one I saw, the 'angels' told a man he was to die within a day, and now was the time to get right with God. NOT ONCE was JESUS CHRIST mentioned. That was the LAST time I wasted my time with that show....HOORAY FOR FOOTBALL!

When they make shows like Daniel, Hoggywood is counting on enough people not knowing the Bible well enough to reject their stuff. They also will NOT make any Scripturally-correct shows for fear of opening enough eyes so that their other trash loses its viewership.

From the previews I saw, I thought they pegged it pretty good.

Unfortunately, many times, they are right. Many Church members know the 40 days of Purpose or whatever other fad comes out of California better than they do the Scripture.

I usually do not watch NBC and therefore had not seen any previews or read any reviews. I watched all of it and started counting to see if they could address in some way all the social problems of our time in two hours. I didn't make a list, but I think the only one missed may have been abortion and I'm sure that will come along soon.

I probably will continue to not watch shows on NBC because of the horrible commercials during this show.

I think someone said somewhere that it is a combination of 7th Heaven, Joan of Arcadia, and Desperate Housewives. It is a nighttime soap opera. In fact, it seems to me that the day time soaps are mild according to this show.

It is merely entertainment for those who like this sort of entertainment. I really can't see how any one family could have that many problems. Maybe they do.

The problem as I see it is that many non-Christians may think that Christians really act that way. The ones that I know do not.

Locally, an episcopal priest(?) as well as four other supposed Christian leaders were interviewed on the 6 o'clock nbc news about this show. The episcopal minister was laughing and stating nervously that he didn't see anything wrong with it. He even commented that the main character had a Volvo like he did, but that the main character had a better rectory (whatever that is). hahaha (not)

A couple of nbc affiliates in Indiana and Arkansas have refused to air it, but my local nbc station got over 1000 e-mails and letters of protest, but they chickened out and continue to show it.

Thanks to the original poster for posting the sponsors.

From the clips I have seen, I was deeply disturbed by the flippant portrayal of the Lord, regardless of how people were portrayed in the show.

I'm not expecting non-Christians to acknowledge Christ, but His portrayal was irreverent and completely inappropriate.
Yet most conversation in the media centers on portrayals of the people. The portrayal of Christ is rarely addressed.
