Is it wrong to buy sandwiches from a bar?

How can it be an appearance of evil when there is nothing evil about going into a bar?

How can it not be gossip, unless you assume that a person is going into a bar for evil purposes?

 

Do you think Jesus would have gone into a bar to buy a sandwich?

Actually, when taken in context, that passage says not to participate with them in drunkenness.

 

I will answer your question with my opinion.

I do believe he would, but the sandwich I think would have been secordary, I believe he would have gone in to witness to unbelivers and sinners, which is what Gina suggested I believe.

Go in for the food, but while you're there make good use of the time witnessing to people.

Well, it's not a sin, not necessarily an appearance of evil, and not necessarily a bad witness. My wife and I have from time to time visited a local sports bar & grill for lunch or during special sporting events, and done so with other church members. However, I agree withh Joseph B's original post. If you are not comfortable with it, then don't do it. You have every right not to and should feel no shame for it. You cannot be judged for your personal conviction, and, so long as you're not judging anyone else according to your personal conviction, you're not acting unrighteously.

I applaud you for loking at yourself with objectivity. Of course, we should refrain from judging others according to personal conviction, but you are indeed welcome to, and I encourage you to, adhere to your own personal conviction for yourself, whatever that may be.

There are many restaurants that have bars in them or an area to buy alcohol. Eating in these places are not wrong. I can see nothing wrong with getting sandwiches at the ONLY place in town that offers food to eat.

I would think that most people in your town know that this is the ONLY place to get sandwiches.

We can try, but we cannot control what other people think.

I believe that 1 Thessalonians 5:22 means to avoid evil.

Abstain from every form of evil NKJV

We are to abstain from every hint of false teaching or disobedience.

 

What kind of message are you giving to the lost who see you in the bar. The see you not getting drunk, not drinking, and being a nice friendly guy. If you pray about it and are not tempted tow drink be a witness just by your actions.
