God's will

What exactly do you mean by his will?

1Timothy 2:4 (God)Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

This is God's will.

2Peter 3:9 ¶ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

We atleast see here that certain things happen that are not God's will...

 

Yes,all things occur by the decreed and permissive will of God. Otherwise God would not be totally Sovereign. As Ecclesiastes states, there is a time to be born and a time to die. All things are appointed by God, although we do not always understand God's purpose.

 

You have three options.

1) God does not want those things to happen but He cannot stop them.

2) God does not want those things to happen and He could stop them but He does not.

3) God does want those things to happen so they do.

Clearly #1 is out of the question. I think the correct answer is #2, and #3 as well. If God could stop those things but He does not then He does want them to happen, at some level, even if He does not want them to happen at some other level. He does not want anyone to perish, yet He condemns to lost to eternal damnation, and He does nothing that does not please Himself.

Whatever the LORD pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps.
