Rick Warren's plan to change the world.

Taken from the article 'Gathering or Scattering?' by Paul Proctor

quote:

"PURPLE HAZE

But before he made the announcement, he decided to have some fun and surprised the audience when he said, “I’ve always wanted to do in this stadium.” He then sang an impersonation of Jimi Hendrix’s hit song, Purple Haze. As the audience erupted into laughter, the church band joined in playing back up to it."

So it appears that Rick actually rehearsed this before playing it at the stadium. That would constitute pre-meditated foolishness and poor spiritual discernment.

The only laughing that I would have been doing, was at the freedom that I was feeling as I ran from the stadium to find a new pastor to sit under for teaching. [IMG]

I have posted quotes from Rick Warren's materials that show he mishandles scripture but none of the diehard RW supporters have ever acknowledged it. It really cracks me up. This guy has quite a hold on you folks...

Beware: Rick Warren is moving evangelicalism in the wrong direction. We need discernment in our churches once again...

WOW, I have to say Rick really is wrong on this stuff. But, and I don't mean any disrespect to anyone living in that state, he does live in California. Being from there myself, I know the type well.

Isn't. </font>
Then you must not know what God says about stewardship.

Gen 1:28 God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth."
Gen 1:29 God also said, "Look, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the surface of the entire earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. This food will be for you,
Gen 1:30 for all the wildlife of the earth, for every bird of the sky, and for every creature that crawls on the earth--everything having the breath of life in it. I have given every green plant for food." And it was so.

Ashley was not saved at that time. I heard her testimony. She came to know the Lord AFTER the incident. To blast PDL based off this false information is foolish. You basically wanted a lost person to lead another lost person to Christ, and blamed RW and PDL when the criminal became muslim. Get a life.

With few exceptions, there hasn't been questioning of his salvation, and many people have explicitly stated that God has used him to impact the lives of many people, in spite of his faulty theology.

Amen! Why can some people not separate the bashing of false teachings from the bashing of the individual?

We are warned of an apostate church. That won't be a church full of lost people, but will be a church full of false teachings and false teachers, many of them saved, but deceived into worldliness.

And here I thought they would know us by our fruits. If you love the things of the world and embrace them and drag them into the church, you will be full of love, and the world will love you...

By the same token, many people ascribe "love" to that weepy, limp-wristed sort of feel-good "love" in which "we can all just get along!" By this definition, was Jesus showing love when he was angry?

Rick Warren: There is Salvation Outside of Knowing Christ

Rick Warren believes that there is salvation today for those who have never heard of Jesus. This is from his Saddleback Family website. Read it carefully, both what it says and does not say. Here's an excerpt:

Question: What about people who live in a country where they have never heard about Jesus? Will they be able to get into heaven by some other way?

Answer: There is only one way to get into heaven, through what Jesus did on the cross for us. He paid the price for our sins on the cross, no one else could do that because He alone is God.

What about those who haven't heard about the cross?

They can be saved the same way that the people in the Old Testament were saved. The book of Romans tells us again and again that Abraham was saved the same way that we are, by his faith. Abraham didn't know the name of Jesus or that one day Jesus would die on the cross for his sins, but he trusted all that he knew about the God who had shown Himself to Abraham. Because of that trust, when Jesus died thousands of years after Abraham, the same forgiveness that was offered to us was given to Abraham.

God still reveals Himself to people who haven't heard the name of Jesus today. Romans 1:19-23;10:13-21 tells us that, even by nature itself, we can all clearly see who God really is. None of us can stand before God and say, I didn't understand." We all live as His creations in the world that He has made... the evidence of the love and grace of God are all around us! Let me be clear about what this means. A person who trusted in God without hearing the name of Jesus would be of the heart to immediately recognize that Jesus was the name of the one they believed in if they were ever to hear His name and story. They would know, just as Abraham would have known, that this is the truth about the God they have been following all of their lives. Someone who has begun to walk in the light is always able to recognize a brighter light.."

We can begin to "walk in the light" without the Light of the World? Where does the light come from, Rick, if our hearts are dark with sin as Romans 3:23 states?

With this theology, we have no need for missions or true evangelism at all. (And with Saddleback, of course, we get none.) As Christians we can spend our time like Bill and Melinda Gates--conducting purpose driven social work to cure the world's physical ills. After all, you can be saved without knowing about Christ or the cross, Warren says. This is rank apostasy.

What Rick is saying is that we are saved through what Jesus did on the cross for us, not believing in Christ and what He did on the cross for us. He says we can be saved even without knowing Jesus and his atoning work. He says that we can "trust God" without ever having heard of Christ and that when we finally hear of Christ, we'll then recognize Him and say, "ah, that was who I was trusting!" This is the underlying belief of interspiritualists like Dave Fleming who has taken Warren's beliefs a step farther and stated that all world religions are essentially the same, worshipping the same God, beneath the superficial differences. That, friends, is where Rick Warren is taking the church.

That's not at all what "Rick is saying". Notice he uses continually "the name of Jesus". Do you think for a minute that Abraham knew the Messiah's name was going to be Jesus prior to Mary knowing? How was Abraham justified? By faith. In what? A "name" or the fact that God would send His Son to atone for the sins of the world?

40 God having foreseen something better concerning us, that they should not be perfected apart from us.

Hebrews 12
1 ¶ So therefore we also, having so great a cloud of witnesses lying around us, having laid aside every weight and the easily surrounding sin, through patience let us also run the race set before us,
2 looking to the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, "and sat down at the right" of the throne of God. Psa. 110:1
3 For consider Him who had endured such gainsaying of sinners against Himself, that you do not grow weary, fainting in your souls.

Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

But, because a book called The Purpose Driven Life needed to be sold and Pastor Warren needed to be perceived as successful, the truth of Ashley's ordeal became secondary to expediency; and just as Oprah awkwardly tried to justify the errors in Frey's book, since it had touched so many lives, Christians to this day defend Pastor Warren and his book, not because he is scripturally sound or accurate but simply because he has sold so many copies and "touched so many lives" with it. In other words, it worked, so it must be a God thing.

and:

Ironically, as a guest himself on Larry King Live, Rick Warren called the much reported incident "a story of two redemptions," in spite of the fact that Nichols unrepentantly pleaded "not guilty" to those multiple courtroom murders and converted to Islam upon returning to jail; not to mention Ashley stating, with Warren at her side, that she had actually been a Christian since around the age of seven.

Rick Warren is just another money changer hiding out in the house of God. While others lost their life, he kept on conducting business.

</font>
Well it’s official; you my friend have officially crossed the line. I hope and pray that no unsaved person reads the garbage you just posted.

1. Rick Warren lives in the same house he has for years (including before the success of his book). Does Gates? No.
2. He Tithes 90%. Does Gates? No.
3. Many have been saved and Saddleback does support missions. That my friend is the heart of the Gospel.
4. Many believe that you can be saved outside of having a literal Bible in your hands. They believe this for the same reasons that we believe babies don’t go to hell and mentally challenged folks don’t go to hell. Do you still preach the Gospel to these folks? Yes. This does not counteract missions because we have no capability to understand to what level of belief is necessary in order for one to be saved. We don’t know exactly how far Gods grace extends in terms of babies, mentally challenged, or third world citizens. All we can do is fulfill our responsibility to preach the Gospel. There are cases in which a culture is so far down a road they will never look up to search for our God. This is why missions are necessary, this does not negate the fact that someone who doesn’t have a translated Bible or a Church in their village cannot come to the knowledge of Christ. Hence the Holy Spirit. John 14:6 refers to Jesus’ position in the kingdom. Though his sacrificial atonement we can be saved, hence Him being the only way. We cannot enter Heaven without Christ, but that doesn’t mean his sacrifice is limited to those who can read a translated Bible. This grace can be sufficient for those who search and find, but may not have the capacity to understand to the extent you or I do.

Mr. Warren tithes 90% of the salary that he receives from his church(reverse tithing). There was no mention that he tithes any of the money he receives from the sale of his books or any other income.
