Yes. God hates you and I when we are wicked and sin. God also loves us in spite of our sin. That is the beauty of grace.

ESV - Rom 5:8 - but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Yes, I read Malachi 1:4. Your mistake is that you do not believe it can refer to yourself and that Romans 5:8 also refers to sinners you do not like.

I beleive the text, is referring to me before i got saved .Now that Im saved God does not Hate me Because of his Son. I beleive He Hated Me and my Sin , But like you said His grace brought me to repentance. There are some who will never be saved and I dont Know who they are. Thanks for reading.

And while you, myself and others who sin differently from you were/are still sinners living in sin that God hates, God loved us.

I think God is rather specific in the Bible regarding whom He hates -- it is those who persist in doing evil and harm others. For the most part, though, if you look up 'hate' in your concordance, you will find that it is specific actions the Lord hates: divorce, wickedness, falsehoods, cruelty, etc.

We do not find that He hates His created human beings in general, though.

Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Not as we understand it. We English-speaking folk tend to equate "hate" with "withholding love". God does not withhold his love from anyone (his grace, yes, but his love, no).

Now, if you look at the Hebrew syntax of the word, it referrs to intense dislike, disapproval, and withholding of favor. By that standard, God not only engages in that towards sinners, but to sin as well. And, it doesn't matter if the person is saved or not. Disapproval of one who sins, and withholding of favor in regards to the one who sins, is bestowed upon any of us who sins, be we saved or not.

What translation are you using that uses the word "hate," or are you inferring it from the context?

"The foolish shall not in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity" Psalm 5:5 (KJV)

Not sure if the above verse has any relevance to this discussion, but that verse does say "workers," not "works."

In Malachi 1:4 the Lord is answering Edom's boast. To find WHY the Lord 'hated Esau' (the people of Edom, not the man Esau), you need only read Obadiah, where the entire one chapter book is dedicated to the answer.

Still this is not ALL people created or even human beings in general. This is a specific people for a specific reason.

In Romans 9 , the Lord is specific in His hatred of Esau and conversely His love for Jacob .

But for the consideration of other verses in which the Lord manifests hatred for people:

Psalm 5:5,6 -- The arrogant cannot stand in your presence ; you hate all who do wrong [ notice not just the sin , but the person ] You destroy those who tell lies ; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the Lord abhors .

11:5 -- The Lord examines the righteous , but the wicked and those who love violence His soul hates .[ with all His heart -- J.A. Alexander ]

31:6 -- I hate those who cling to worthless idols ...

52:6 ... for God despised them [ people , not things or sins only ]

That's enough for now to chew on . Oops , got this confused with my Pebbles For Arminians To Chew On thread .

Rippon, I examined this business of God hating Esau, and I think that if you let Bible explain Bible, you will see something different than you are supposing. I wrote this:

If I'm at war with you or enmity, you are my enemy. God has an enmity to some people I dont Know who or what they are: its in the text. Thanx and God Bless

Perhaps youare looking at an earlier version if the King James, but the only word I can see that comes close to "hate" in this verse is the word translated "indignation," which in the Hebrew is za`am. It does not translate to "hate" as we use it today.

    Enmity
    EN'MITY, n.

    1. The quality of being an enemy; the opposite of friendship; ill will; hatred; unfriendly dispositions; malevolence.

The bold would be the correct context in the passage. If enmity is only hatred, what do you do with the following verses?

Luke 14:26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, and even his own life--he cannot be My disciple.

Matthew 5:43 "You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

Luke 6:27 "But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is gracious to the ungrateful and evil.

1John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.
1John 3:15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.

Correction there Im sorry the word was indignation,or anger, wrath; forever. Im sure he loves us "the church" with an everlasting love but if he loves the ones he is throwing into the lake of fire he surely has a strange way of showing it. thanx and God Bless
