Thanks and AMEN brother, I totally agree. [IMG]

I think many would be surprised to find (which they can if they do a quick search) that most CCMA NEVER promote Jesus on their websites or the gospel. very wordly indeed.

Building 429, a group that is started in Greensboro, NC and is now based in Nashville, TN (were number one on charts for several weeks last year with their ccm song 'Glory Defined', says nothing about the Lord on their main web page. Just promoting their newsletter and selling their products is all I see.

It is sad, John the Baptist named those that were walking in sin, Paul named those who were walking in sin, even Jesus named them... and they all did this openly.

When we reveal the sinful lifestyles of the CCM artists, and the evil behind the music they play, we are deemed to be witchhunters.

I will follow the footsteps of Jesus and continue to expose sin for what it is regardless of the whited sepulchres of today's society.

Thanks Linda it is incouraging to hear that Christians do understand the importance of sound doctrine. the devil is very smart he is a roaming lion moving around seeking who he can devour. 1Pet 5:8 and he disguises himself as an Angel of light always mixing enough truth with his lies. 2 Cor 11:14

Again if anyone needs the original link pm me. [IMG] [IMG]

Thanks, MrCoon, Already have. Nice cheap shot...likening my choice of worship music to destructive sinful habits. That was low. But anyway, I DID because of my legalistic past, make this a matter of prayer. My conclusions are scripturally informed, not based on rumors from some badly done website.

Frenchy, you are parroting a bunch of Bill Gothard material. This guy's "ministry" is being viewed more and more as a cult. He is a controlling, domineering, messed-up guy. His ministry, once strong in the 1970's, has been rocked by sexual scandal, mostly by Gothard and his family members. I know...I'm a former alumi of his seminars and have been delivered from his legalism and dangerous misuse of scripture.
    SOURCE

Now, Frenchy...let's see...you gave the example about the fired youth minister, who happened to play an Amy Grant song (can't you POSSIBLY come up with an example from the last ten years?)...you mentioned someone coming in to a Christian bookstore and complaining about the music (gee...maybe they're just whiners!)...and you post a website (twice, I might add, after one was removed) that is full of lies, slander, some truth mixed with irrelevant comparisons and bad logic (Ozzy Ozbourne is bad. Therefore, DC Talk is bad). Who's arguing from feelings?

Scripture: Acts ll:9--"Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

Evaluate the lyrics. Check the lifestyle of the artist. If those line up, you have no complaint.

Finally, Frenchy...you are talking about "Melody, harmony, and rhythm." Why do you take the word "melody" from scripture, and then define it by Webster's? What terrible exigesis!! The hebrew word for "melody" is literally translated "to strike strings on a stringed instrument!" source The interrelative relationships of melody, harmony, and rhythm to which you refer have their roots in...guess what? PLATONIC PHILOSOPHY. So, I'm going back and defining scripture with scripture...and you're defining scripture with Plato and Webster. Who's more right?

I didn't read this thread... I don't have to... it's the same tired argument that I've come to expect from flare-ups of that Dial-the-Truth site. I remember seeing it for the first time about 12 years ago while I was in college. At that time, I was so outraged I wrote a very lengthy response (that now I wish I'd saved) about each group or singer listed. I've seen that it's bigger in recent years as apparantly the DTT paparazzi follow these people around and document every time these artists "fall off their pedestals."

I agree with rbell and tinytim from the first page... most of these artists aren't even singing anymore! Even if I were to concede that this handful of artists is sinful, I wouldn't condemn the entire genre. But then again, I'm not you, I can't dictate your "convictions", and I won't touch your preference. Just make sure you don't touch mine either.

What's also interesting to me is this...I'm not seeing ANYONE here who wants to throw out the hymns. I love them. We do them every Sunday...tons of different arrangements of them. Amazingly, we do an arrangement of "Amazing Grace" with our praise band...and no one took off their clothes or smoked any dope during the WHOLE song. (In fact, two people were saved that service. What a shame that God couldn't use the music, or something good might have happened). We do piano & organ stuff. We do REALLY old stuff...like an arrangement of "Phos Hilaron" (Hail Gladdening Light)--an ancient hymn from the 2nd-3rd century. If older is better, you can't beat that...

My problem is this: some of you (especially those who are more strident, and question the salvation of anyone who uses, worships by, or plays the "evil" music) insist God can't use this stuff...and that those who do use it are apostate. However, I FULLY SUPPORT those of you who choose not to use anything modern musically in your church. God bless you! I have NO problem with that. I'm just countering attacks in which some say, "God has condemned this style of music," when you can't prove scripturally that He has. I believe God is big enough to use ultra-traditional and modern approaches--AS LONG AS He is being glorified and Jesus is preached.

At my church? God is being glorified. Jesus is being preached. Souls are being saved...and staying the course, long-term (I've been here six years...I know). That is spiritual fruitfulness...

"By your fruits ye shall know them."

I also thank God for those of you who are bearing fruits in more traditional settings. God is glorified there as well. But quit attacking something that God is using.

Careful there... heaven forbid anyone shine that same light into your life. I'm thankful that some of you have been deemed perfect enough to focus on the sins of others. Thanks for not shining the light into my life... because my life isn't as perfect as I'd like it to be. Maybe that's the same for some others as well, even those who've been chosen to bear the burden of a public life?

That is what is important! Don't worry about what some people around here think. Worry about pleasing the Lord and bringing Him glory!

    SFIC, let's make a trade:

-You give me five examples of "sinful lifestyles" of modern Christian music artists.
-I'll give you five examples of "sinful lifestyles" by traditional music ministers/song leaders.

Or what the heck...we'll reverse it. You take traditional and I'll take modern music.

Conclusion: Nobody will ever listen to any music again, because there have been sinful people involved that fouled stuff up.

I am NOT I have never ead anything from Bil G and do not what you are talking about. I went right to the bible to find out what it said and had just a few tapes at the time to do my study none of which was Bill G. I have found since then countless others who agree with what the bible has to say on the subject. you and others just can't handle the fact that God's word actually has more to say about music than you realized.

There are countless artist today that have the same problems the artist 10 year ago have. LYRICS do not LIE, artist lifestyles do not LIE, their web site do not LIE.

Please address John Macarthurs article on how to deal with gray area's and the article on IS MUSIC NEUTRAL and tell me these are lies and not to be taken seriously.

No you don't want to give up something that appeals to your flesh, that's what it all boils down to.

The problem with most of the CCM today is that kids are not being taught the difference and cannot TELL the difference between the two. they develope a TASTE for the "style" rap, rock, hard rock, punk (yes punk christian) sensual, etc. that when they get out on their own or even growing up they end up prefeering secular music instead. i know this i see this all the time with young kids especially ones raised in christian homes. studies have found that most kids raised in christian homes walk away from the Lord for a while if not for good and what better way for Satan to entise them are keep them away than these styles of music.

SENSUAL music can lead to promoscuity and sexual conduct.

HARD ROCK music can lead to drugs and alchol

RAP music all of the above

on and on, Godly music causes one to be focued on God and his word, not the world and it's desires and worldy wisdom. and there is some good CCM that does that but it is hard to find than the rest.

I do know this artist is new and still around. check out her info. how this be a lie? it's not like someone made it up or forced them to write their lyrics etc.

http://www.rsjames.com/followup.aspx RSJ does have a commitment time and so do many Christian artists. Probably one of the best would be Casting Crowns. If KLOVE is in your area ( klove.com ) I encourage you to listen and see. And I am being fair. I am going to Pensacola Christian College where you cannot listen to that music. But I refuse to be swept up in that rediculous thought. KJ-52 ( kj52.com ), a Christian jip hop/rap artist frequently presents the gospel. I once asked him the worliness question and he said that his music isn't worldly because of the message. It's like saying we can't use television "because it's worldly". Not if the message isn't. There will always be bad examples, but don't knock down the entire industry.
