    mk,

Yer right. The pagan and occultic symbols have no power over the child of God.

    Which makes one wonder about...

Those who continue to insist that there is nothing occultic about those symbols and that they see the trinity in them.

No, it makes me wonder about those who insist that the use of such a symbol is somehow sinful.

The point that has not been clearly demonstrated that I stated earlier is this. Does anyone really believe that those who translated the NKJV intentionally placed a known pagan symbol on the cover of the Bible? Did they secretly or overtly want to influence people to blaspheme God by attributing Him to an occultic symbol? I say this not believing the symbol in and of itself is pagan or occult, that some may use it as such doesn't mean that those faithful translators believed thats what it stands for.

The rainbow is a great symbol of God's promise to man----the homosexuals have made it their symbol for their movement. Does that make the rainbow evil? No---when I see a rainbow I thank God for His promise, I do not celebrate homosexuality. When I see the symbol on the NKJV I see a symbol representing the Trinity,(I dont see the Trinity) not an occultic symbol. It may be all in what we are trying to see. Some see a demon behind everything.

    Tony,

that was addressed. I believe someone said that the publishers should have researched where that symbol originated.

    And I would agree.

Amen, Brother Ransom. To bad the rumor mongerors who
picked up on 'triquesta' didn't bother to check the nKJV first???

it is interesting that a wiccan that calls herself the Celtic Girl calls it both the Triquata and the Triquestra. Maybe it is known by different names in different sects?

Regardless of the name, it is used for occultic purposes. Should that which is supposed to be of God be associated an occultic symbol?

I'd like to repeat my short history of a demonic attack
upon the Written Word of God. This has been documented several
times in the Version/Translation Forum here at Baptist Board (BB).
But now the Version/Translation Forum here at BB is itself
under attack, I cannot remain silent.

    ATTACKING THE HOLY BIBLE,
    A case study of
the New King James Version (nKJV):

This didn't happen to me as history, but as it unfolded,
the dates are aproximate as I'm not good remembering dates.
But the dates will be within a couple of years of what is right.

In the late 60s and early 70s people who hated new transations
of the Bible into English were approached and made this statement:

A new translation of the Holy Bible would be acceptable if
it were made from the Textus Receptus (TR).

(The TR is a family of six to eight cloesly related Greek New Testaments.

Such a translation was made and the whole Bible was translated
by 1984. It was nearly 10 years later in 1992 that the first
attack upon God's Written Word, the Holy Bible, in the form
of the nKJV was launched. The attack was not against the
words of God contained therein, but against the Triquestra
symbol put on by the publisher. Now, of course, the 'God's
Hands are Tied by Satan' folks who limit God to one and only
one book are in full frontal attack against the Written Word
of God itself, the Holy Bible, in all the various English
    Versions.

Can you believe it took these Bible mauraders ten years
to figure out to attack the symbol?

The nKJV is written to specifications provided by the
'God's Hands are Tied by Satan' faction who limit God to one and only
    one English book.

Scott J: //Symbols in general have the meaning the users place on them.//

Amen, Brother Scott J - Preach it!

I worry about those who use an innocent symbol as a budgon
to beat their alleged brothers and sisters down.
Dicussions about such symbols tell more about those who
bring the matter up than about the symbol itself.

I praise God for those who use every symbol to magnify
Christ and focus on His excellence.

// ... The Triple Celtic Goddess'of Maiden, Mother, and Crone ...//

A grown man attacking a 'girl, a mother, and a grandmother'?
I hardly see how such attacks constitute an argument of
a superior standing before God. :(

2 Peter 2:12B speaking of evil men (KJV1769):
... speak evil of the things that they
    understand not ...

To many, a cross is a symbol of the sacrifice that
Jesus Gave that paved the way for my Salvation.
To others it is a Pagan LAW & ORDER symbol.

according to the introduction to the NKJV, the eth's were dropped and the thee's and thous for better reading. Also many words were changed for easier reading.

Let's look at one of the verses that is made easier reading...

KJV Ezra 8:36 And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.

NKJ Ezra 8:36 And they delivered the king's orders to the king's satraps and the governors in the region beyond the River. So they gave support to the people and the house of God.

I can see where it is easier to understand..

In my 11 years of education (of which, I never failed a grade), I never once heard the word 'satrap', yet I learned the word 'lieutenant' before I even reached the 6th grade.

I am also quite sure any 6th grader today would know what a lieutenant is, but would not be able to identify a satrap.

    Easier reading? I think not!

From my studying, the Hebrew word there means satrap, but satrap is not used in the english language, at least not I have heard.

In reading commentaries, I see the satrap was in rank the same as the lieutenant. That is why the KJV uses the word lieutenant.

Looks like it's OK to violate the 3rd commandment by daring to attach God's name to foolish allegations.

But heaven forbid anyone should look at a Celtic knot and see an analogy for the Trinity!

It's interesting that you prefer the testimony of anonymous pagans over that of Bible believers. Speaks volumes, in fact.

a pagan would know a pagan symbol.

You are aware, aren't you, that pagans and other New Age types have a tendency to claim Christian terms and symbols as their own?

And that this pagan tendency to co-opt Christian symbolism is practically as old as Chrisitanity itself?

and how do you know that they were not pagan first?

The triquata, triqueta, triquesta, or whatever form of the word is used is sold as jewelry for the wiccans. It is an occultic symbol. Why defend it?

God's Word tells us not to have anything to do with the unfruitful works of darkness. But many who profess Christ defend one of the symbols of darkness .

My blindness is physical, but I think a spiritual blindness to the objects of the occult is much worse.

2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

How can someone who claims to be of Christ carry around or wear a symbol that is used of satan?

    Tony,

The rainbow was given by God.. there is a big difference there.

I know it is what the homosexual community use. I do not view it in respect to homosexuality, but to the covenant God made with Noah.

I do not wear or carry anything with rainbows either.

I dont wear them or carry them either. LOL

God has given us everything, as with the rainbow satan loves to take the things of God and use them for his own purpose. The translators of the NKJV put the symbol on the front of the Bible to give us a visual picture of the Trinity, that three in one and it is seen in that symbol. That is what I see when I see the symbol, I do not see the occult. And my vision is clear both physical and spiritual. I really believe you attribute too much to Satan because of your dislike for any translation other than the KJV. I would ask you to consider that in this case you are grabbing at straws to make a point that is not there nor was it intended by the translators.

If you choose not then I guess we will have to disagree on this. Just be careful not to infer that those who dont agree with you are some how blind to the wiles of the devil.

    Blessings,

    Bro Tony
