As I've pointed out to you before, you're assuming that all Gospel music is "God honoring" and that no mainstream music is "God honoring".

You need to demonstrate that before you can ask that question.

Yeah, there's still no live Buffett album like his first one.

Hey, tell me about JJW's Cowboy Boots and Bathin' Suits. The title makes me think of Buffett's Galveston beach music (Riddles in the Sand/"Who's the Blonde Stranger?"). I know JJW had a lot of influence on Buffett and in fact got him to Key West, so I'm intrigued.

To my list above I should have added CCW's Greatest Hits or Chronicle. "Travelin' Band" remains one of my favorite songs of all times.

I used to think so, too. For the longest time, that was my favorite incarnation of the CRB.

But now I have to say, even without Fingers Taylor, there is no version of the CRB that even comes close to the current line up.

Bubba is releasing two live recordings from two different shows from this summer's "Tiki Time Tour". Having been to a couple of shows on this tour (not these two) I can tell you they're great and I don't think the previous three live albums come close to caturing the atmosphere of a live Buffett show the way these do.

By the way, you do know that he broadcasts all of his shows live over radiomargaritaville.com, right?

Yeah, it's a lot like "Riddles in the Sand", "Last Mango in Paris" stuff.

Evidently, Jerry Jeff has moved to Belize and is now doing for Belize what he did for Texas and Key West.

He's got a new one out now called "Jerry Jeff Jazz" that's really good, too.

My wife and I made a day trip to Washington, DC yesterday, and decided to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe. I saw a poster on the wall that made me think of another group, although I may be showing my age by mentioning them:

Also, Clarence's saxophone was on the wall, and I cannot remember anyone mentioning Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. I think I have said it before, but Bruce wrote the songs for _Tunnel of Love_ about the same point in his marriage as I am in mine. I really love the title track. Also I love "Walk Like a Man" which sounds as though he wrote it to his father.

 

I've heard of them but I honestly couldn't tell you a thing about them.

Check out "the Big Man's" "Live in Asbury Park" album. It's pretty good.

Bubba is releasing two live recordings from two different shows from this summer's "Tiki Time Tour".

I'm looking forward to it. I must confess I never listened to Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Feeding Frenzy was pretty unimpressive.

 

It's good.

Yeah, it wasn't up to his usual standards. It was one of those things where the record company rushes an artist to put out an album before they're ready. This was one of the things that led him to part company with MCA.

 

I used to think Hysteria was an awesome CD, I saw them in ’88 in concert. Shortly after I was listening to the song ‘love bites’, while playing my Nintendo. I heard something strange voice at the end of the song that caught my attention. It’s a computerized voice; I listened again thinking my mind was playing tricks.

The voice sounded like it said, “Christ of Nazareth, can go to hell.” I wasn’t a very religious person, nor was I raised in a very religious home. I didn’t go around at 16 listening for hidden messages in songs. I listen to it over and over, thinking it had to be saying something else, but that’s all I heard, was what I quoted above. So I never listen to that song again, but I did continue to listen to the CD.

Now that you mentioned ‘Hysteria’ I decided to do some research on the net and found some articles about the voice and what it said. Of course the band denies it, so I dug the CD out of an attic storage bin and played it for my wife and she heard the same thing, without me even suggesting what the voice said.

I haven’t listen to Def Leppard since ’93 and when I was going through my old CD collection I was quite shocked and embarrassed at what I used to listen to when I in my teens and early 20s. Now that I’m a Christian, I’ve lost a lot of my ‘ol ‘rock n roller’ friends. And even though I have a strong faith in God I feel that the music I used to listen to isn’t appropriate to listen to as a person who’s committed his life to Christ. I chose to surround myself with positive music, and Christian friends that have the same commitments as my family.

 

Well, you know they're Satanists, right?

 

Kinda hard to defend Def Lepard. Their music is a glorification of the rock n' roll party lifestyle. You add to that a buncha mullets and pimply faced, angst ridden teenagers pumping their fists in the air, and you've got a perfect recipe for crapolla. Man am I glad the glam rock era is over.

 

I agree (except for their being glam rock).

If you take their music on it's own merits, there's plenty to disagree with without resorting to the whole "hidden messages" silliness.

 

I guess I'm kind of fickle, since my favourites change all the time, but at the moment -
