The problem is that you seem to think that you are the only one to decide these complex issues. And, if anyone disagrees with your view on what is and is not godly, they must belong to the devil.

Give others a little room to make decisions and have some respect for their choices even if you don't agree. In other words, "Chill Out!"

    SFIC...

i take it you havn't heard the phrase "In Not Of" ?

oh! in fact that reminds me of a song done by crossmovement! here, let me post the lyrics to their track "In Not Of" :

    (obtained from crossmovementrecords.com)

you see... its not what goes into a man that defiles him... its what comes out... yet if the world has influenced us and it is being displayed by us then that is what defiles a man.

    in not of.

Who cares what "I think" or what "you think". It's what sayeth Scripture. God isn't within a thousand miles of this kind of worldly/christian crossover "music". Look at the bums that sing it, that should tell you enough!

Hey "whatever" I was once but by the Grace of God I was able to repent of my sins and trust Christ by Faith and He made me a new creature.

And the point is, because it was the grace of God, and not your own goodness (or the culture, heritage, etc. as both the Pharisees and many conservatives today thought), then you should still not be looking down sneering at "bums". It is only by grace that you're not still one!

And once again, you cannot even provide a scripture that sayeth that only traditional, sung in suits and ties is within a thousand miles of God! Yeah, "what sayeth scripture"? People have a lot of opinions, and even ad-hominem attacks now, but no scripture itself.

Eric, I can give you a lot of Scripture to prove a person WILL change when Christ comes into ones heart. You show me Scripture where the Bible says a person doesn't change. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...call it a duck. They look like bums, they sound like bums so to me they are bums!

I never denied that a person would change when Christ came into their heart, but that is not what is in question. It is what a person needs to change from in the first place, and in this issue, it seems to end up getting drawn according to cultural lines. Else, a person who enjoyed classical or trraditional songs (including the ational anthems, etc) as a non-Christian should then give those up when Christ changes his heart.

Nor because you think they look and sound like bums. That is not what determines what they really are, and especially not God's approval or disapproval, because it is man judging outwardly only (based largely on cultural preferences) and not righteous judgment like Christ teaches. Remember, those Pharisees thought they were above the "bums", and they could credit God for their righteousness as well. The Pharisee in the story with the publican did just that.

Scripture backs my statement up. The Bible says 'Thy Word is Truth,'

Lots of folks, SFIC, make that same statement as you - even some that disagree with your position on issues.

If people who advocated these worldly styles of music that only feed the flesh, would pick up their Bibles and read them, and I mean read them with the intention of seeing the truth, they would not want to justify their stance. They could not justify it when compared to God's Holy Word.

That is the problem, people use scripture out of context to justify their own lusts; lust for alcohol, lusts for smoking, lusts for trashy clothes, lust for trashy music.

That doesn't say anything about which music is trashy and which is OK. Please, help me here.

Oh, so you're talking about POD. For some reason, I thought you were talking about the Cross Movement. They (at least from the first album) dress pretty conservatively, so that's why saying they looked like bums really struck me. I thought POD was more into Alternative.
Even still, they do not look like bums. You can jump on the long hair, but the clothes look clean and decent, so that was a bit too rash.
