    What do you consider blessing?

    just because finances are in the plus and a ministry is growing does not mean that God is blessing it. It does not even mean that God is in it anywhere.

    Also, if people are getting saved: the question is do you think God will turn his back on someone who hears to gospel and is convicted in the heart? [IMG]

    In societies where the women work men do the leading. What has been found is that in a society where thew number of women working increases so do the leaders who are women. This number increases until it reaches 50 percent then the number of women leading goes down. But I believe that women pastoring is much like the response I heard a woman missionary give a student one time. He asked basically what gives her the right to be a missionary. Her response was something like, if there weren't so many lazy men like you women wouldn't have to go. I see women pastoring as an indicator of the lack of male leadership.

    My pastor supports the idea that God can call whomever (even a donkey) he wishes in whatever capacity that he wishes...but he never ever gives any scriptural support for his position.

    Could someone please tell me where in our Bible (OT and NT) God states that he can call whomever for whatever? Where does it SPECIFICALLY say that God calls women to pastor, preach, and do whatever?

    Just trying to prepare myself to have a answer in case some lost soul asks me.

    Thanks, everybody [IMG]

    We got a woman minister at the Anglican Church wife and I attend. The big talk in the village at the coffee bar was what to call her. It seemed that priestess didn't fit, nor vicaress,or pastoress, or rectoress and she was beyond being a deaconess. It was a problem, even to the world of the unsaved. We decided to just call her, Sharon,,,,,,that was her name.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    God will not bless what is aganist His will and His Word and women pastors are against both. Fuss and cuss all you want, but plain direct English is just that and "I suffer not a woman to teach" and "a pastor must be apt to teach" cancels out women pastors and there are others, but this is the issue will not die because we do not want the truth. We want what we want and will wrest Scriptures until we get it and truth be hanged that is why this topic never dies.

    We are looking for the version that says God is our Mother and that she who desires to be a bishop desires a good thing, but it is there and the ungodly will always wrest Scripture to their own damnation.

    This is not one of those "within the pale of orthodoxy" issues, but downright denial of the Word and heresy. Bottom line.

    As for me, I'm going to have to go with what I'm convinced the Bible teaches, even if it is contrary to the popular position of most "conservative" Christians.

    It's not denial of the scriptures at all for many of us who have studied the issue. The simple truth is that good people who have patiently studied and prayed through this issue have come to different conclusions about the teaching of scripture.

    At this point in the matter, I must agree with you, Maverick, in regard to God's will about not blessing a woman to pastor.

    I think that God blesses women to preach (or prophecy as 1 Corthinains 11 and Acts 21:9 say), but not to pastor. Dr. Bob's scriptureal support confirms that idea from what I see.

    Does that mean that women who feel that God has called them to Pastor suffer from a deep-rooted denial and contempt for God's will?

    How about the men that ordain women pastors? Does God hold them accountable for approving of what he deems as evil (defiance of His Word and His Will)?

    You go, Dr. Bob. [IMG] After much study in original language, my husband and I have also come to this conclusion. We get stuck on the head covering thing and forget about the "WHEN a woman prophesies" part. Ya gotta understand the whole context, not just a verse or two.

    Well I'll put it to you this way... I have NEVER in reading the Bible seen a passage were God gives the "OK" to a woman to preach. In fact the Bible teaches AGAINST a woman having that sort of authority.
    Anyone here that DOES beleive a woman can preach, how are you gonna argue against THAT?! {I can see a woman "preacher" being the husband of one wife allright! :eek: ;) }
    And look at these:
    Now how, is a woman gonna NOT have authority over man, and not teach him and be in silence in the church AND STILL BE A PREACHER? {unless of course she starts an All woman church!}
    Grizzly, did that help? :confused:

    Answer to all the above is YES :eek:

    Words have meaning. Pastoring is NOT preaching.

    Actions have consequences. We WILL give an account to God

    I see what you mean, but can you explain what you do with the "when she PRAYS" part? Not trying to sidetrack the discussion, just curious about this one part.

    And if only one person comes to a saving knowledge of Christ by the preaching of a woman pastor, is that person NOT saved??? How can you put such Earthly limits on an Omnipotent God?

    I Cor 11 (in context) is talking about problems that the Corinthian church had when it met together. Lots of them! :eek:

    So when they met, if a woman prayed or preached (how/where was up to the church, but certainly not in a place usurping authority of men :rolleyes: ) she was to have her head covered.

    Not talking about street preaching or praying in your home. Talking about a local church meeting where women COULD preach and pray.

    Unlike so many of our ifb churches that delegate women to the slave quarters, er, nursery/kitchen! :cool:
