I realize that pastors are probably seasoned veterans in the art of interpretation, but when you study the Bible, do you still run across a verse or two that you still don't quite understand or know how to interpret and explain to others?

For example, 2 Peter 2:4-10 still baffles me a bit. So does, Revelation 12.

Any scriptures still challenge your understanding?

I still see in a mirror dimly and sometimes it seems the more I know and the path of interpretation seems brighter it seems to be so cloudy still. Even the most brilliant men and women I have met still say, "I don't know." But somehow God still uses me.

When I sometimes get depressed I still go down to the basic point of Jesus loves me this I know. I don't always understand it but God is still in control.

Most should be able to figure out basic interpretation as per our "hermeneutic" or presuppositions of understand the Bible.

My biggest problem is "application" of the texts such as books of Job (much of it), Ezekiel 40-48, Zechariah's visions, Acts 1-12 v 13-28, and variety of texts in I Corinthians, Colossians, and (of course) Hebrews.

Some knotty issues there of which I am STILL (after 33+ years in fulltime ministry) not certain.

    But I'm probably right! [IMG]
