LOS ANGELES - Immigration rights advocates more than 500,000 strong marched in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, demanding that Congress abandon attempts to make illegal immigration a felony and to build more walls along the border.

The massive demonstration, by far the biggest of several around the nation in recent days, came as
President Bush prodded Republican congressional leaders to give some illegal immigrants a chance to work legally in the U.S. under certain conditions.

Wearing white shirts to symbolize peace, marchers chanted "Mexico!" "USA!" and "Si se puede," an old Mexican-American civil rights shout that means "Yes, we can." They waved the flags of the U.S., Mexico and other countries, and some wore them as capes.

Saturday's march was among the largest for any cause in recent U.S. history. Police came up with the crowd estimate using aerial photographs and other techniques, police Cmdr. Louis Gray Jr. said.

I noticed a bunch of Mexican flags in the crowd. So much for assimilation. Most of the demonstrators are probably illegals anyway, but they seem to have more clout than US citizens in these matters.

I think that the Senate will give the president much of what he wants and that the House will eventually go along with most of what the Senate passes.

I noticed this event got national coverage, while American citizen protestors get little if any coverage and then mostly negative, wonder how many of these protesters found themselves tear gassed beat up and locked in wire cages?

Spanish Media Organized Nationwide Mass Protests

(AP) LOS ANGELES The marching orders were clear: Carry American flags and pack the kids, pick up your trash and wear white for peace and for effect.

Many of the 500,000 people who crammed downtown Los Angeles on Saturday to protest legislation that would make criminals out of illegal immigrants learned where, when and even how to demonstrate from the Spanish-language media.

For English-speaking America, the mass protests in Los Angeles and other U.S. cities over the past few days have been surprising for their size and seeming spontaneity.

But they were organized, promoted or publicized for weeks by Spanish-language radio hosts and TV anchors as a demonstration of Hispanic pride and power.

Mostly illegals...

More Mexiacn Loyalist than American...

I sincerely believe Mexico is more of a threat than Saddam was or Teheran is...

Yet, our borders are wide open to any Jose, Roberto, or Gomez that wants to cross over...

(not that saddam wasn't a real threat. And, not that Teheran isn't now a big threat.)

But, when a US Senator states that there are 11 million illegals in our country and the US couldn't survice without them!!!!!

(That was SC Senator Lidsay Graham Cracker)

We have already lost the war...

ok fair enough. i didn't really think about it...

i just think its important that many people hear another side

i.e.
Leviticus 19:33-34 teaches us, "when an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the
Lord your God."

once again, sorry

i understand its a complicated issue and no one side has the total 'moral rightness'.

The modern nation-state has a right to defend its border. The modern nation-state as we know it did not exist around 1500 B.C. at the time that the Law of Moses was given to the Israelites.

Also, we are not under the Law of Moses in the United States. And we were never aliens in Egypt.

LTN, your apology is accepted.

And don't worry about us not hearing the "other side" as you put it. We've heard the "other side" for years from our lazy, corrupt, and incompetent politicians. [IMG]

i still think the OT is pretty important and like to heed its teachings, there's a fundamental difference between the ritualistic teachings which were applicable to the old covenant only and the moral teachings which are universal

e.g. only the OT forbids "men wearing that which pertaineth unto a woman" - just cause the NT dosn't mention it dsosn't mean its irrelevant.

Well, LTN, who gets to decide which are relevant and which aren't?

In the OT times "Alien" was someone who came across your borders with the intent of living with you as a law abiding non-native...

Illegals are no more "alien", in the OT Biblical sense, than an invasion by an enemy...

(Which illegals are when you put Vincete Fox's Governments meddling in our internal affairs into play!)

If an "Alien" violated Israel's Laws they also suffered the consequences of Israeli Law...

Illegals are violating Our Laws and are not expected, by these liberal open border types, to be under the same standard of law as the rest of us..

If you want to use the "Alien" passages then use **all** of the OT that applies...

Not just the treat them right...

There was a condition for them to be allowed to remain as a Protected Alien...

Obey the laws of the land... All of them... And, most violations of OT law resulted in death.

Surprise surprise look who makes up La Raza's Board Of Advisors. Who benefits from illegal immigration? Why Partner with NCLR? NCLR, National Council of La Raza (The Race).

How many lobbyists do these corporations have in Washington again?

I'm not saying illegal immigration is a good thing, but since 20 million illegals are there - many with settled familys - repatriating them seems harldy biblical.

Whilst yes they have broken the law, so should be fined and pay back taxes (as the Guestworker program seeks to do), but they are not 'evil' criminals in the sence that a burglar is.

The motivation for their crime was not one of malice, rather desperation. Put yourself in their shoes
-->i know if i was living in Mexico, with a wife and kids living in absolute poverty, and i wanted to work hard and make a better home for my children - but couldn't get a legal visa (because not many are handed out, and the process is v. slow) - i might think twice in a state of desperation about crossing that border.

i guess the NT command "do unto others as you would have done to you" kinda comes into play. I think its too dispropotionate to uproot millions of family and children, by repatriating them... the Specter's guestworker program seems more compassionate

The issue is rather complex, agreed?

Consider France and it's Muslim influx...

They have not integrated into French Society...

And, it appears they have no intention of doing so...

Of, course becoming French would violate their faith in Islam and require compromise with the great satan...

Now the French have a massive mess on their hands that can and *will* only get worse...

The fact that the marchers chose to align themselves with Mexico's Flag not the US Flag indicates where their true allegiance really is...

From a military viewpoint we have the potential of having 11 to 20 million Mexican Agent Provacatuers already inside our borders!

If a newspaper article can bring 500,000 plus out what would happen if Vincente Fox told them to take to the streets in violence?

Oh, he wouldn't do it through public 'official' channels... But, he **could** do it...

And, with the amount of nose thumbing already, the large number of veiled and not so veiled threats to do just that....

That's why I am firmly convinced they should all go home and be properly processed, in turn, before being allowed to come back in...

If we are worried about repatriation trauma then we should limit immigration worker status to those that want to become permanent US Citizens...

No split allegiances... Period!

I do not beieve a Guest Worker Program is in the best interests of Our National Sovreignty or National Security as long as Vincente Fox or a like minded person is in charge of Mexico...

If you caught "The Unit" there was play on Mexican Soldiers going on 'Furlough' to do dirty deeds...

These scenarios are based on fact...

The Mexican Army and the Federal Police are reputed to be some of the most corrupt Government entities on the planet. And, are **KNOWN** to be in league with the drug cartels...
