Why would it be a draw?

As far as the "draw" goes, what is the "draw" of identifying a church as "Baptist"?

All of our labels (Baptist, SBC, Independent, Fundamental, Primitive, and so on) are designed to attack and repel, aren't they? A KJVO label, whether or not we agree with the position, correctly identifies the contents of what is inside. It draws those who want it, repels those who don't.

Note: While I strongly prefer the superiority of the KJV for the English-speaking people of the world, like C4K, that label would probably repel me as well.

Praise The Lord for a pastor that will tell me up front that the church he pastors is a King James Bible Believing church. It tells me many other things about the church also! When I take my kids into that church for a meeting we don't have to worry about getting into a hodge podge of liberalism.

Interesting thought, Shiloh, for I count "onlyism" as rank liberalism/modernism and refute it as error.

We should debate it in the Versions forum (not here). I will start a topic there. Come by and say "Hey".

I don't think I've seen a post as ugly as this or as unChrist-like as this one in a long time. :(

    Posting Rules:
    3. Show grace to the other posters. When someone disagrees with you, discuss it; but be slow to offend, and eager to get into the Word and find the answers. Remember, when discussing passionate issues, it is easy to go too far and offend. Further, if we are "earnestly contending for the faith" it would be unrealistic not to expect at times to be misunderstood or even ridiculed. But please note that your words can sometimes be harsh if used in the wrong way. The anger of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
    4. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. The board has an edit button enabled. We encourage you to use it and edit your own words. Moderators and Administrators will be visibly proactive in dealing with potentially offensive situations. Posts of a violent or threatening nature, either implicitly or explicitly, will be deleted, and the poster's membership revoked. We encourage personal problems with other members be resolved privately via email or personal messaging

I don't think I've seen a post as ugly as this or as unChrist-like as this one in a long time. I presume you are talking about the folks who are KJV supporters. Just what did we write that was "ugly" or "unChrist-like"? Are we not able to share our opinions without getting criticized?

Shiloh - When has a NON-kjvo told someone who is KJVO that they were unsaved? That they have their shoes under the devil's table? That they are dancing with the Serpent? That they need to touch the hem of His garment and be healed?

Those are all vile and evil attacks made BY the kjvo on these threads alone. I have rebuked the writer and left them for all to witness because it will prove the need to suspend such writers of filth.

You see, the KJV is not being attacked. The KJVonly position is being attacked and sadly that is considered by some to be one-and-the-same. It is, of course, not the case.

And while we are at it, I am a KJV "supporter". I only memorize verses from the KJV1769 revision. I use it often from the pulpit (or the NKJV). I am just opposed and on a mission to stamp out the "only" sect and their divisive doctrine.

Hope that helps you see the difference.

I am not trying to bash. I just wonder how it is a draw. Any more than putting NIV ONLY on the ad or sign. Why not "Jesus Only"?

I like the KJV. I read the KJV. I also read other versions.

I don't understand why there is a lost world out there and we are spending our last breathing hour and energy on KJV onlyism, and there is a lost word dying and going to hell--????

Agree, Sagmeister. It is a doctrinal issue that needs discussion, but like the calvin/arminian debates, it can sap all time and energy from godly living.

I would sure rather spend time on 40 OTHER forums on the BB, reading and answering questions, etc, than all the time required to babysit the Versions threads . .

I wonder what the modern-day KJVO's would do in a non-English speaking country?

I have yet to hear from the KJVO's one shred of evidence to contend for the faith in their manuscript evidence. It seems like all I hear is slams and disdain for those who would disagree with them. Their disdain and slurs is evidence of their lack of the Gal. 5:22,23.

    Getting back on topic...

I still say the purpose of the label on the sign is as much designed to repel as to draw in.

If I understand the topic, it has little to do with whether or not we agree with the label or not.

I suppose we could ask a similar question, such as "why do some churches decide to drop baptist from their name?" In a way, that's also an effort to draw in more, but at the same time repel "hard-liners," so to speak.

Sister, touching the hem of His garment is where the woman with an issue found grace from Christ. I am sorry you see the post as an "ugly and un-Christlike", I hope you do not consider the accounts of Matthew 9 and 14 as this. It was never meant that way, but only to bring to the conscience the recognition of what we see continually in these threads. It has been well noted the distatse for the multitude of "Passion" discussions over-running some forums. That same disdain for the anti-KJVO "ministries" is felt by many as just as deplorable in many of the other forums.

This "dedication" to stamp out "KJVO" has even crept into the "Pastoral Ministries" forum, such a disgrace.

I come into this forum to get away from the BV/T forum and try to regain some sanity, but I see it is over-run into even this forum as well.

I won't remind you that you also are in violation of the very rules you just posted, no, I won't. I don't have my PM blocked, if you would like to continue to rail upon me or any of my posts I invite you to do so in a PM. My email address is QuickeningSpirit@wmconnect.com

As far as putting "KJVO" on the church sign, to me that ONLY means they stick to the KJB, that really doesn't amount to much. I have been to some "KJVO" churches that were quite liberal in their walk with Christ. I like to know where a man of God stands before I will submit to his authority, the indication of what he knows the Bible to be, can be, but is not always the case, by placing that upon the sign.

This isn't really an issue for me, I am not looking for another church, we are right in the center of God's will as we speak.

If I were looking for a church, I would appreciate something at least on their sign that would give me some sort of expectation to what they are about, my hope would be Jesus Christ and reaching for the lost and teaching others to be prepared to meet the LORD thy God. I know of many very powerful churches, I also know of many society run organizations that have "church" on the sign.

If "KJVO" on the sign is something that would keep you away from any church, you should look deep into your soul and spirit to see what is wrong inside that would cause you to be so presumptuous towards any assembly of believers. I believe anyone who would abstain from a church because they have "KJVO" on the sign indicates a judgemental spirit with a preconceived notion of all the members lumped up into a catagory you dislike.

I would invite you to get to know us, it may be hard to believe this by the way yall try to portray me, but we are one of the "most loving churches in our area", believe me, I know firsthand. We are God's family, if we have any schizm beginning to develope in our local assembly it is dealt with and only the option of getting things right with one another so we may continue to worship with one another, if not, well, see ya!

I am a God-called preacher, that's what I do, everywhere I go. Get to know me before you continue to judge me, I want everything between us to be right, so let's go on for the Glory of God and stop requiring others to be just like us.

    In Christ

    Brother Ricky

Brother Ricky, for 1719 posts (those before this one) you come across in some of the most unChristlike manner. Then here I see a different side of you.

I personally would not attend a church that was KJVO, but I see YOUR spirit in this post and you've finally showed a humble and non-beligerant attitude.

    God bless.

They thought Noah, Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah,Ezekiel, Obadiah, Amos, Malachai, Zepheniah, Zechariah, Daniel, and even Christ and any others I may have left out as beligerant too. No. I do not claim to be a prophet or the son of a prophet, nor a baby sitter either.

I know I have the gift to rile those opposed to themselves, and I bear this burden to Calvary daily.

I am glad you finally see my true heart. Sorry I have to be so rough at times. I do hope my attitude understood is somehow being realized as not hateful as those of you portray it to be.

Remember, Cry aloud and spare not!

Let us reason together, respond accordingly and with grace along with a shot of reproof and a smack in the face with rubbing-alcohol when necessary.

(Hey, it might help those of other discussion boards have a better impression of BB anyway!)

We're all outta "place" here, but that's a on-going silly discussion in the BV/T forum.
