    DO NOT MISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John A Broadus' "A Thesis on the Preparation and Delivery of Sermons." Get an older copy not the 1979 version. He has been pared down where it has lost its 1800s flavor.

I would love to dialogue with some of you openly or privately about this.

    sdg!

I agree on Broadus. He doesn't just teach you to preach, but assists you in how to think.

Robert L. Thomas: The Jesus Crisis

    Robert L. Thomas: Evangelical Hermeneutics.

John MacArthur: Ashamed of the Gospel.

Holman OT / NT Commentary series. Max Anders, Gen. Editor. -->> Is a teaching commentary, has the commentary section, along with lesson illustrations, applications, a teaching outline, discussion questions, etc.

John Phillips "Exploring Hebrews" (and other individual books).

The Grace Awakening - Charles Swindoll
A Christian Manifesto - Francis Schaeffer
-->> These 2 books should be required reading for every Christian, not just leadership.

Creative Teaching Methods - Marlene Lefevre
-->> Good preaching is also good teaching. Also get her book on Learning Styles.

Jesus Among Other Gods - Ravi Zacharias
-->> Zacharias was raised in India, with all of its pantheism. Working through this book, then perhaps watching the video series, will be of much help in these "Post-Christian" times. We are facing some of the same situations as the Apostle Paul did, and need to be prepared for the non-Christian society of the 21st century. Book is a bit heavy on the Philosophical side, makes for harder reading than a simple devotional book.

Can Man Live Without God? - Ravi Zacharias.

With hundreds of books it is tough to narrow it down to one or two. I like Hendriksen on most NT books and I have been blessed recently by reading The Story of Christianity by Justo Gonzolas. But I would have to say the two most important books are the two I haven't colored yet!

has anyone heard of the Bible biography series by John G Butler? These books are pure gold especially the five books of the life of Jesus!

My favorite book, if you can call it that, is the life application study bible NOTES, They are a commentary and devotional unlike any I have seen in a long time.

    GODzThunder,

Butler books are a must for any expository preacher!

Donald G. Barnhouse commentary set on Romans
    RA Torrey- How To Pray
Counseling books by Crabb, Collins, Adams
    Leonard Ravenhill- Why Revival Tarries
Leadership and Visionary books by Maxwell, Stanely, and Young

And of course, 'The Miracle of Downtown Jaxonville'- recognized by any Pastor that goes to the yearly Pastor's School. This reference book is worth its weight in gold when it comes to administration and practical issues withing the church.
