I have never seen this on BB, if it is will someone direct me to it?

I thought it would be a good thing to share sermon outlines... nothing fancy, or elaborate, but the basic outlines to sermons.. maybe others can use them for sermon prep, or even lessons.
please no plagarizing, just the basic outlines.

For starters, here is one that I shared on another thread that I am planning on preaching next Sunday.

    Love them like Jesus

(Mar 6:30) And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
(Mar 6:31) And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
(Mar 6:32) And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
(Mar 6:33) And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.
(Mar 6:34) And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

    Compassion
    COMPASSION, n.
    1. A suffering with another; painful sympathy; a sensation of sorrow excited by the distress or misfortunes of another; pity; commiseration. Compassion is a mixed passion, compounded of love and sorrow; at least some portion of love generally attends the pain or regret, or is excited by it. Extreme distress of an enemy even changes enmity into at least temporary affection.

    I. And Jesus, when he came out
    A. As Jesus was going --We are going
We are constantly on the go
    B. Jesus was a busy man, the disciples were busy people---WE are busy also
    Busy with Jobs
    Busy with families
    Busy with church
    C. Jesus was going to much needed rest
Even our rest can be disturbed by people that need us
God will give supernatural rest when we act out of love

    II. saw much people
    A. Are you aware of the people around you Men, women, children, teens, co-workers, etc
    B. Who are you associated with?
    Just Christians
    Just Sinners
    Mixture
    C. He didn't just see their outward appearance - Saw their soul
We need to look past peoples outward appearance and reputation

III. and was moved with compassion toward them,
    A. Compassion-- That gut feeling where you hurt for what the other person is going through.
you associate with their pain, you identify with them
This is seen from God through out the whole Bible
    1. When God brought the Isrealites out of Eygypt.
    2. When he called them "his chosen" He identified with them
    3. It was compassion that drove Him to promise in the Garden of Eden that a savior would come.
    4. It was compassion that allowed Him to Choose Noah
    5. And it was ultimately compassion that kept Him on the cross.
But just as faith without works is dead, so is feeling sorry for someone, without trying to help them is worthless.
    B. "Moved" "toward" --- Both action words
Love is not love without action
Luk 10:30-37 And Jesus answering said, A certain [man] went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded [him], and departed, leaving [him] half dead. (31) And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. (32) And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked [on him], and passed by on the other side. (33) But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion [on him], (34) And went to [him], and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. (35) And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave [them] to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. (36) Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? (37) And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

IV. Now what does that mean for us today?
We need to have compassion on the people around us.
    A. Those we are in contact daily
    B. Those who God places in our path

    V. How do we show compassion?

    Love them like Jesus
    A. Give to them to meet their needs
    B. Listen to them
    C. Be willing to take time for them
    D. Finally when you can't answer their questions, point them to Jesus who loves them

    (Mar 12:37)
David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he [then] his son? And the common people heard him gladly
Why did they listen to Jesus? He showed them compassion.
Do you want your lost friends and loved ones to hear you? Show them compassion.

Because my messages are transcribed and posted, I've taken to transcribing them before using them, and then hi-liting the outline. Not only is it easier that way, but if I forget a point that needed to be made, it's right there.

I am not a fan of long indepth homiletical outlines. I think they look and sound too much like an exegetical paper rather than a message. I prefer very simple to the point outlines. Here is my outline from this past week:

"Do You See the Crowds" Matthew 9:36-38

    1. Develop the Compassion of Christ (v. 36)

    2. Realize the Need (v. 37)

    3. Ask God to Intervene (v. 38)

As a general rule of thumb in each of my points I try to accomplish the following:

    *explain it
    *validate it
    *illustrate it
    *apply it

Thanks Tim. It is just my simple way of staying focused on what I believe is vital in preaching.

Here is another example of a sermon outline of mine:

"Marks of a Man of Faith" Hebrews 12:1

    A Man of Faith...

    1. Understands those who have come before him. (v. 1a)

    2. Overcomes the sin in his life (v. 1b)

    3. Endures the will of God (v. 1c)

Here's one set of notes for a message. I don't print out a verse list usually, but if I exceed about 7 or 8, I usually will. For some reason, the board would not let me post the Greek:

    (brephos) - refers to a newborn or a baby still in his mother’s womb. Luke 1:41; Luke 2:12; Luke 18:15 – literal; 1 Peter 2:2 - spiritual

Luke 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

Luke 2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

Luke 18:15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

(nepios), which is from two parts, the first being a negation and the second meaning “speaking”, so literally, “not speaking”; refers to an infant, or figuratively a simple-minded person, or spiritually referring to an immature Christian (babe or child (-ish)). [Galatians 4:1; Hebrews 5:3 – literal; 1 Corinthians 3:1; 13:11 – spiritual]

    Galatians 4:1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;

Hebrews 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

(huios) - a mature child or an adult; spiritually, it’s a person who is spiritually where God wants him to be. [Matthew 3:17; 5:9]

Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

paidion - a childling (of either sex), that is, (properly) an infant, or (by extension) a half grown boy or girl; figuratively an immature Christian

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Matthew 4:8-9 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; (9) And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Mark 9:33-35 And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? (34) But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. (35) And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

Luke 22:26-27 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. (27) For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

    John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Luke 7:9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

1 Corinthians 14:20 Brethren, be not children [παιδίον (paidion)] in understanding [thought]: howbeit in malice be ye children [a verb form of “nepios”], but in understanding [thought] be men [teleion (mature)].

    Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children [nepios; not able to speak; minor], tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

    Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

1 Peter 5:5-6 … be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (6) Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Here's a link to an outline that my father used once for the book of Philippians. Needless to say, it took over a year to cover such a book: Philippians outline

bobby, thats a great one. I recently heard this same passage preached with the following outline:

    1. The Upward Call v. 1-2
    2. The Inward Call v. 3-6
    3. The Outward Call v. 7-8

That is an awesome passage to preach.

Who did you hear preach that message? I heard a message with that identical outline, from Isaiah 6, during our church's summer program last June or July. I don't remember who preached it though.

An obscure story, but fun, nonetheless:

    Shamgar--Judges 3:31; 5:6

    - He started where he was.. (the Israelites were not doing well at the time (5:6). Shamgar came along, and was available to be used of God, even when times were tough).

    - He used what he had. (3:31 says he killed "600 Philistine men with an ox goad." Shamgar didn't wait for an army, a position, a crown. God gave him a stick, and he used it.)

    - He did what he could. (Shamgar is listed among the greats of the Israelite judges..."He, too, delivered Israel." God honored Shamgar because he was faithful.)

God rescued His people once again by using someone who was given a stick, a task, and a people in decline.
