Ok this is my favorite and most 'self-convicting' sermon. Whenever I get wrapped around myself or lose focus the Holy Spirit reminds me of this sermon. It is not much but it is the whole sermon...intro to conclusion. May the Lord bless it!
    -------------------------------------------------
    “Being a Godly Father”

Thesis: “Men, the most important ministry is not always as a Preacher, Missionary, or Evangelist, but it is always as a Godly Father.”

Introduction: Solomon, credited with being the “wisest man ever”, knew the importance of training his children and of being a Godly Father. *Read Proverbs 4:1-5

    I. The Divine Reasons – God does everything with a purpose.
    a. God established the family first. *Read Genesis 1:27-28
    b. An honorable endeavor. Rewarding for the parents and child. *Read Exodus 20:12 and Ephesians 6:1-3

II. The Direct Results – Things that affect the immediate family.
    a. The Children. *Read Proverbs 22:6
    b. The Families Name or Heritage. *Proverbs 22:1

III. The Dynamic Affects – How we constantly affect others around us.
    a. Others and their relationship with God. *Read I Samuel 2:12-17
Note: Eli’s sons took away the people’s pleasure of offering to God.
    b. Others and their decisions for God. *Read I Samuel 8:1-6
Note: Samuel’s sons took away the people’s desire to follow God.

What’s In It For Me? (WIIFM) –I Samuel 15 – God told Samuel to tell Saul to utterly destroy the Amalekites. And when Saul returns from battle with the Amalekites, Samuel hears the noises of cattle and sheep and sees Saul with Agag the Amalekites’ King. I Samuel 15:22 “ And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than to sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of the rams.”…Too Many times we sacrifice our families’ time and attention for the “good of the ministry”.

Conclusion: “If God has Fathers that are following His Word and raising their children to follow God…There will never be a shortage of Preachers, Missionaries, Sunday School Teachers, so forth!!”

Sorry these are probably so simple but I'm a Marine so you can't expect too much ;) [IMG] I can't write really great 'essay-like' sermons...I hit the highlights keep the direction with my intro and conclusion and then let the Lord fill in the rest :D

    “What’s Your FEAR?”
    II Chronicles 34:1-2

Read II Kings 22:1-2 - “Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath. And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.”

Intro: How many times are we asked to do something for the Church? How many times are the announcements made for a worker here or a driver there? How many times do we want to help out but are stopped by fear? Do we feel convicted to do something but almost as a reflex we experience fear and then make excuses. Our fears are legitimate and carry a voice of reason, as do our excuses. My Dad liked to say, “An excuse is the skin of a reason stuffed with a lie!” Today, we’re talking about King Josiah, an 8 yr old boy turned into a King. Let’s put ourselves in his shoes feel his fears and I guarantee we can come up with some excuses…

F – Family (Josiah had wicked Parents and Grandparents - 33:21-23)
*But he did that which was right and followed David’s example (34:2)
Note: David was 11 generations ahead of Josiah (Matthew 1).

E – Environment (Josiah had an extremely dysfunctional home life – 33:23-24)
*But he was not distracted by his environment and he made changes, enforced these changes, and gave his people an example to follow (34: 4-6, 32-33, 35:2)

A – Age (Josiah was too young to lead a nation – 34:1-3)
*But he sought out God and followed good examples (34:3)

R – Relationships (Josiah could have compromised like his grandfather – 33:11-17)
*But Josiah took a personal interest and made a promise (34:26-27, 31)

Concl: What can we learn from Josiah? A LOT! How can we apply these truths to our daily lives and the decisions we face? First, by choosing to follow God. Secondly, by prayer and Bible study to know God’s will. Thirdly, by making a commitment and by following through with it. What is your fear? What are your excuses? Are you going to go forward and accomplish great things to glorify God? Today a decision must be made a verdict must be reached!

4 week series based on the book of Jonah, and the movie, "Cast Away"

Jonah 1: "Wake Yo' Butt Up!"
(intro..home improvement warehouse video clip...ends with wife hitting sleeping hubby with catalog and saying, "Wake Yo' Butt Up!")

video clip: Cast Away...when the storm hits the plane

Jonah 1: What happened in the storm?
i There were two populations of folks on the ship--those who brought the storm (Jonah), and those who got caught up in someone's storm (the mariners).
    1. The men cried—for someone.
    a. When you’re desperate enough, you will cry out for help.
    b. You ask for help from whom you trust the most.
    i. This doesn’t mean they can help you!
    2. Each sailor depended—on self.
    a. Figured they could handle anything.
    b. Had always managed before
    c. Were simply going about their business.
    3. They wondered—who screwed up.
    a. When they knew who to blame—did it make the storm go away?
    b. Finding the cause of a problem is OK. But the problem must still be addressed!
    4. Jonah laid down and slept.
    a. Knew what to do.
    b. He did the opposite.
    c. He assumed he could get away with it.

Conlcusion: Did you notice that Tom Hanks risked everything to save the watch when the plane was in trouble? Why? Because it was a reminder that he was loved unconditionally. God loves you unconditionally...whether you're in a storm of your own doing, or you're caught up in a storm that you had no part in creating.

When I first started preaching I picked up some of those outline books and used a few of them, but I found them like trying to wear someone elses shoes. They just don't work for me. I would much rather wrestle with a particular text and come up with my own outline.

Learn from the past, look to the future, live in the present.

    Joh 11:21-25
    (21) Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
    (22) But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give [it] thee.
    (23) Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
    (24) Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
    (25) Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

    I. Martha knew Christ had power in the past.
"if you would have been here"

II. She knew he has power in the future
"I know in the last day, he'll rise again"

III. Jesus taught her that He has power in the present.
"I AM the resurrection and the life.

God has given us victories in the past....
We know that we win in the future.....
God gives us power to live each day.

Learn from the past, look to the future, live in the present!

    This was the Easter sermon.

I have no idea. Picked up one of those books and it was of no use to me, except as a study aid to look at. I need to study and develop my own outline or I can't preach it

Have you ever had the blessing of listening to RC Sproul's series on the holiness of God using Isaiah 6? HIGHLY recommended.

If you plan to preach from this passage, you should really get this series and glean from it.

This summer, I'm preaching through the book of Hebrews on Sunday nights. Nice, light summer fare!

Here is Sunday night's outline for Hebrews 1

    Title: His Excellency, Jesus!

    Introduction:
In the past, God spoke to men in various ways
    Today he speaks through Jesus
The writer now introduces us to His Excellency, Jesus
He introduces us to Jesus by showing us Jesus' person and work in three
    sets of pairs

Jesus will possess what he created (2)

Jesus currently sustains what he created (3a)

Jesus will reign over what he has redeemed (3b-14)
Jesus' authority is seen in his relationship to God (which is superior to
    angels

Jesus' authority is seen in his works which are superior to angels

Jesus' authority over men is superior to angels

Conclusion: God has spoken to us today through Jesus. Listen to Him!!!
